Elkassir Rails Haidary

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
Mustafa Haidary
Mustafa Haidary

There are no friends at the poker tables, a fact that Mustafa Haidary discovered in a hand against his buddy Mohammed Elkassir with the pair clashing in a hand that saw Haidary hit the rail.

Haidary had flopped top set on a king-high flop, and Elkassir had a big wrap and had picked up a backdoor flush draw on the turn, which is when all the chips went in. This duly came in on the river to send Haidary to the rail and shoot Elkassir up to 419,000.

Xie Doubles Through Pham With a One-Outer

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

The flop showed {3-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} and 30,000 had accumulated in the pot.

Luke Edwards checked from under the gun. Dinh Pham bet 10,500 from the hijack. Hong Xie called from the button. Edwards folded.

The turn brought the {7-Hearts} and Pham bet out enough to cover Xie.

"I'm so far behind," announced Xie, before making the call with 29,000 behind.

Pham tabled {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and had a set of sevens. Xie showed {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and needed a king.

"I need a king," pleaded Xie, before the dealer placed the {k-Clubs} on the river.

"I had a king in my hand," added Ash Gupta, meaning Xie indeed hit a one-outer to stay alive.

"You have no more lives for the rest of the tournament," joked Mohammed Elkassir after the hand.

Frydman Eliminated by Truong

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

On a flop of {6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{5-Spades}, Michael Frydman had moved all-in, and was matched by Tam Truong.

Frydman showed {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} for a flopped straight and led Truong who tabled {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} for two pair.

The {a-Hearts} on the turn changed nothing, however, the {7-Hearts} on the river improved Truong to a higher straight and the winning hand.

Ash Gupta
Ash Gupta

With the community cards spread {6-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{j-Spades}{5-Hearts} and 50,000 in the pot, Ash Gupta was all-in from the small blind for a further 103,000 and the action was on Mohammed Elkassir in the big blind.

After some time in the tank, Elkassir slapped down the call and Gupta revealed {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for a king-high flush. Elkassir flashed his opponent {j-Hearts}{8-Hearts} before mucking, leaving Gupta free to scoop the pot.

Truong Sends Chen to the Rail

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

While he may have just scraped into Day 2, Tao Chen is going no further with Tam Truong sending him to the rail. Chen raised from under-the-gun and called off for his tournament life when Truong re-raised from the cutoff and both hands were turned over.

Tao Chen: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Tam Truong: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{5-Spades}

The last board Chen would see in the tournament ran out {10-Spades}{j-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and he headed for the rail in 21st while Truong stacked up to 510,000, which is currently good for the chip lead, with next closest rival Truong's tablemate Jun Wang, who is sitting on 500,000.

Edwards Doubles Through Gupta

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

Ash Gupta raised to 12,000 from the button. Luke Edwards announced 'pot' and re-raised to 38,000. Gupta three-bet enough to put Edwards all-in. Edwards called with 71,000 total chips behind.

Edwards: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}
Gupta: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}

The flop dropped {8-Spades}{k-Spades}{3-Hearts} sending Gupta to the lead with a set of Kings.

The {q-Diamonds} on the turn changed nothing and Edwards stood up from his seat.

The dealer then produced the {a-Hearts} on the river giving Edwards the winning hand with a set of aces.

"I'll take a seat," said a relieved Edwards after the hand. "Wow!" he added, as he raked in the double.
