Day 1a Coverage

Day 1b Coverage

On Your Marks...

Players are drifting through to the Poker Room downstairs where tables 6-13 are housed, and the room is already filled with that falling-domino sound of many hands riffling their varying stacks. Expect quite a lot of action early on as the many small stacks seem to be in the mood to double up. As German player Jan Heitmann said, "Come visit me at my table, but be quick, because, you know..."

A timely start is imminent and everyone looks keen to unpause their WSOPE experience after their Day 1A players' day off. The lengths of days and separation of flights mean that this tournament isn't a gruelling marathon, more of an intense stroll.

Some added value......

WSOP Commissioner has just announced that BetFair has added an additional £5,000 to the prizepool, which was met by a great round of applause by the players here at the Empire.

He then announced....."Shuffle Up and Deal!"

Tables of Death

In the downstairs portion of the Empire, five of the eight tables in play in the Face-to-Face bar area are bona-fide TOD's. Check out these lineups:

Table 6: Erik Seidel, Jeffrey Lisandro, Dave Colclough

Table 8: Vicky Coren, Hoyt Corkins, Erick Lindgren

Table 9: David "Devilfish" Ulliott, Sorel Mizzi, Beth Shak

Table 12: Bruno Fitoussi, Gary Jones, Thomas Wahlroos

Table 13: Annette "Annette_15" Obrestad, Brian "sbrugby" Townsend

Candlelit Meal for Two

dodging bullets, baby!
dodging bullets, baby!
As Phil Hellmuth arrives, fashionably late but not as fashionably late as usual so probably not quite as fashionable as normal, he breaks into conversation with Annie Duke on the neighbouring table.

Apparently, it's Annie birthday and she's invited the Poker Brat out for a candlelit meal for two. I translated that as "It's my birthday, and everyone's invited!" so as soon as I obtain the details of the 'date', I shall pass them on to you guys so we can have one giant shindig to celebrate the existence of Annie.
