"Good Fold"

"Good fold" Noooooot!
"Good fold" Noooooot!
... says Aleksander Vathne with a cheeky smirk.

The action had started with Ian Frazer, raising it up to 1.6k from early(ish) position and being called not only by Vathne, but also Richie O'Sullivan in the big blind.

After all three players had inevitably checked the {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} flop, Vathne bet out 2.5k on the {9-Diamonds} turn.

O'Sullivan sidestepped out of the way leaving the decision to Frazer, the two time TV winner cracking his neck in Hansen-esque fashion as he contemplates his next move.

"I'm probably in front," announces Fraser. "I saw Willie dwelling up pre-flop, so I reckon he had an Ace."

After his expert analysis in which he deduces that there is only one Ace out there, he folds nonetheless and allows Vathne to snatch the pot.

"Good fold," adds Vathne, seemingly with a serious face but with that distinct sense of "Ha, ha, I bluffed your ass and now I'm going to be annoying and keep you guessing by saying 'good fold' with a slight smile on my face."

Table Change

They have just broken a table downstairs, whish sees Johnny Chan moved upstairs and on Jesse Jones' immediate left. Also on the table are Matthew McCullough, Ben Roberts and Joe Beevers.

The Unpronouncables

Good evening, Miss Moneypenny
Good evening, Miss Moneypenny
You may have heard of the film the Untouchables, but the sequel that went straight to vid was the lesser known "The Unpronouncables" - no Scottish, female violating tongue of Sean Connery or the Waterworlding, box-office sinking, wolf-dancing presence of Kevin Costner, but it did star these fellows:

Csaba Kuremszki
Jan Pruszkowski
Khaitan Abishek

The latter of those three just doubled up Danish player Martin Vallo, all-in on a {4-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs} board with {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} versus {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}. A Ten or an Eight would have sufficed, but neither arrived, and one of our most valuable Unpronouncables was forced to blemish his stack.

Cutting it Fine

Daniel Petri survives his early all-in even though it was with {7-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} against Christian Toboc’s {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} on a flop of {4-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {5-Hearts}. The {A-Clubs} came on the turn and the {7-Diamonds} popped out on the river to save his bacon.

Meanwhile Neil Channing had to wait for the cameras to come film his all-in with {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs} against the {6-Spades}{6-Clubs} of Matt Larsh. “I haven’t won one of these in a year and a half, so you should be OK,” he predicted, wrongly. A Jack on the turn and he’s still in this thing.

Not so lucky is cold-decked Allan Cunningham, who got it all in against Norwegian online superstar Johnny Lodden on the flop with the board reading {7-Spades}{8-Spades}{J-Diamonds}.

Cunningham: {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}
Lodden: {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

The turn and river the harmless {10-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} and we’re down another player.

"Who are you?"

It seems that the security guard on the door of the BetFair players lounge is not a poker fan. The legendary Johnny Chan just went to walk in there and was met with a stern: "Excuse me Sir, you are not allowed in this area."

One No-Look, One No-Show

Shortstack Achilleas Kallakis just moved in under the gun blind. Around 10k in his stack, and a decision for big blind Mads Andersen. He thought for a while before folding, showing K-7. Achilleas turned over the {K-Diamonds} and then slowly the {8-Clubs}.

It looks like a very small stack has gone unclaimed today, with the chips almost blinded to the felt as Level One draws to a close. The seating plan lists one Gary Conlon as the unfortunate no-show whose WSOPE is also about to come to an end blind.

Dario Alioto Busto

Over at the featured TV table, WSOPE PLO bracelet winner Dario Alioto was eliminated. He raised from the cut off for 6,600. Adam Junglen raised him all in from the small blind (for 10,500 total). Alioto called.

Junglen: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}
Alioto: {A-Spades}{9-Clubs}

"I have an internet hand," joked Alioto.

"That means a nine will come on the river," said Daniel Negreanu.

The flop was {A-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts}. The turn was the {2-Hearts} and the river was the {8-Diamonds}. Alioto was eliminated and Junglen took down the pot.

Junglen increased his stack to over 82,000. He's among the chipleaders.

Tero Trebles Up

Tero Salonen has trebled up his short stack holding {J-Spades}{J-Hearts} against a short-stacked Jaye Renehan with {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and medium-stacked Jeff Kimber with {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}.

The board only finished 8 high, Kenny Tran offered me a £500 side bet that Kimber would win, I was too busy writing on my notepad to take it.

Renehan is out.

Peter Andreas Eliminated

Facing off with Jamie Gold, Peter Andreas moved all-in on the turn with the board reading {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. "I think I got this one," said Gold, as he counted out his chips and quickly made the call, tabling {3-Spades}{3-Clubs}. Andreas was drawing dead, the meaningless {10-Diamonds} falling on the river, and he bid a hasty exit.
