No-Shows Eliminated

In case you were wondering how long it would take for your stack to be blinded off in the WSOPE Main Event without playing a hand, the answer is about five levels.

Gary Conlon, a freeroll winner on Betfair.com never showed up to play the Main Event, and his stack was just blinded off over on Table 11. The same is about to be true of Dorte Rud Jager's three remaining green chips, which are about to be anted off on Table 5.

Justin Incredible

If alarm bells were ever to ring in someone's head that perhaps their hand wasn't ahead then this would be it, Dominic Kay's initial 2,025 raise being re-raised, first by Justin Bonomo to 5,125k and then re-re-raised by Ake Karlsson all-in for 13,350.

After Dominic had made the heard-a-million-times-before comment of "I'm going to let you two fight it out," Justin called in a flash, confidently turning over {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}. However, the realisation suddenly set in that he was in deep dog excretion when Karlsson revealed the Bullets (pow, pow), which inevitably held up on the {6-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{K-Spades}.

So, as Karlsson doubles up, we lose ZeeJustin, but rumour has it that he has another seat downstairs.

Table Shauns Is All Go

Johnny Lodden, building a stack. Again.
Johnny Lodden, building a stack. Again.
One table in particular has been added to in such a way as the early tables have broken that it virtually guarantees to have something interesting going on. Just now, for example, I caught Nicolas Levi contemplating a 25k bet from Johnny Lodden on the flop with the board reading {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{9-Spades}. This was around a pot sized bet - some raising had clearly occurred preflop. Levi thought for a while before passing, saying, "Good play," to his opponent.

That table, and its chips:

Andreas Pournaras -- 57,600
Johnny Lodden -- 65,000
Shaun Needham -- 14,450
Nicolas Levi -- 35,000
Shaun Deeb -- 73,000
Brendan Walls -- 22,000
Erik Joergensen -- 31,375
Martin Johnson -- 35,400
Dorte Rud Jager -- 525 (another non-appearance)

Peter Jepsen Loses Big Pot to Henrik Waltersson

I caught this hand on the turn, with about 20k already in the pot and Peter Jepsen having checked to opponent Waltersson. He bet 10k, and Jepsen considered for a while before calling.

Board: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Spades}....{3-Diamonds}

Now Jepsen checked again, and Waltersson put the rest in - about 17k into a pot of 40k. Now a pause so long I could see their respective beards grow, before Jepsen made the call and was shown {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts} by Waltersson, who gladly took the pot as the other hand was mucked before the TV cameras could congregate.

Roland de Wolfe Eliminated

Roland de Wolfe was all in with {K-Spades}{Q-Spades} vs Julien Bertazzon's {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades} on a flop of {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Spades} and needed a spade to survive against Bertazzon's set. The turn was the {K-Hearts}, the river was the {3-Hearts} and De Wolfe was eliminated... and not very happy about it, due to the length of time it took Bertazzon to call his all in with top set on the flop.

"That was bad. REALLY bad. Did you know what you were doing there?" he said, on his way out the door.

Achilleas Kallakis Eliminated

Achilleas Kallakis pushed all-in from early position and got a quick call from Tim Flanders. Kallakis somewhat sheepishly turned over {Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} to Flanders' {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}.

"You're actually not that far behind," said Jamie Gold, by way of consolation.

The flop came down {A-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. "Well, now you are," quipped Gold.

The turn was the {6-Clubs} and Kallakis was drawing dead.

Fronda Plays the Nuts

"I had to slowplay pocket Queens to death."
"I had to slowplay pocket Queens to death."
It took him a minute to comment, when he found the cards on their backs (him all in vs. Max Katz), "Oh he's drawing dead!" Perhaps Ryan Fronda was waiting for the irrelevant river to relax fully...after it looked like his opponent had put him all in and he had called his remaining chips.

Fronda: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Katz: {6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

Board: {Q-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}
The river: {9-Clubs}
