Spencer Lawrence Eliminated in 8th Place (£ 8,938)

Spencer Lawrence - 8th Place
Spencer Lawrence - 8th Place
Stud 8:

Lawrence (X) (X) {5-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {9-Spades} {9-Clubs} (X)

Duval (X) (X) {10-Clubs} {10-Spades} {8-Spades} {9-Diamonds} (X)

Lederer (X) (X) {5-Spades} {A-Spades} {J-Spades} {4-Diamonds} (X)

Ivey (X) (X) {2-Clubs} {K-Hearts}

A series of bets and raises ended up putting Spencer Lawrence all in on third street while Jeff Duval, Howard Lederer, and Phil Ivey continued betting on the side.

Duval paired tens on fourth street and led out, Ivey folded and Lederer called. Duval led again on fifth street and Lederer called. Sixth street brought checks from both players and it was the same story on seventh street.

Lawrence's nines and treys were no match for Duval's kings and tens for the high, and neither player made a low. Lederer showed {A-Hearts} {2-Spades} {Q-Clubs} for a lone pair of aces, no low, and Duval scooped the pot, eliminating Lawrence.

A published writer and poet in addition to his thriving poker career (including two final tables at this summer's WSOP-Las Vegas), Lawrence will take home £8,938 for his finish here in London.

Shere Khan Roars to Victory

Stud 8:

Phil Ivey has been left with under 30,000 going into the break after locking horns with Sherkhan Farnood.

Farnood = {2-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}
Ivey = {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

Farnood check-called every street before check-raising the river. Ivey made the call, but could only shake his head in disbelief as Farnood showed {A-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{5-Spades} for the full house.

Ivey Doubles Through Lederer

Stud 8:

As the table short-stack, Phil Ivey opted to make his move on the first hand back after the break, all the chips going in on 5th street with only Howard Lederer standing in the way.

Ivey = {6-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{K-Spades} with {6-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{A-Clubs}
Lederer = {7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} with {6-Spades}{3-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

Ivey's two pair was more than enough against Lederer's paltry pair of threes, and he took the pot to double through to 60,000.

Ivey Wins Another

Eat crisps, get lucky
Eat crisps, get lucky
Hold'em:

Perhaps sneaking a few bites from my bag of salt and vinegar crisps was all Phil Ivey needed to turn his luck around, as he just picked up another large pot.

Jeff Lisandro raised pre-flop and Ivey called from the big blind. The flop came down {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {9-Clubs}. Ivey checked, Lisandro bet, Ivey raised and Lisandro called. The turn was the {6-Diamonds}. Another bet from Ivey, another call from Lisanrdro. Same story when the river fell the {5-Diamonds}.

Ivey turned up {K-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} for two pair, besting Lisandro's {A-?} {K-?} . Ivey is now back over 100,000 in chips.

Jeff Lisandro Eliminated in 7th Place (£11,000)

Hold'em:

After a plucky, but fruitless performance, the ice beneath the Ice Man has finally cracked as he exits in seventh place at the hands of the Professor.

With Jeff Lisandro raising it up to 12,000 preflop, Howard Lederer called in the big blind and the two players saw a {6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{K-Hearts} flop. After action on the flop, Lederer led out for 12,000 on the {8-Hearts} turn and Lisandro pushed all in for 15,000. Lederer made a tricky call.

"Have you got the king?" asked Lisandro nervously as he tabled {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}. Well, he didn't have the king, but he did have the straight, Lederer's {7-Hearts}{5-Spades} grabbing his man by the short and curlies. An {A-Clubs} later, and Lisandro was done.

The Ice Man cometh... to the bar.

Peaks & Troughs for Ivey

Omaha 8:

After clawing his way back into contention, Phil Ivey has taken a metaphorical slap in the face from Howard Lederer, the Professor check-calling an {8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{A-Clubs}{9-Hearts} board before leading out for 12,000 on the {5-Clubs} river. Ivey made the call, but mucked upon being shown {4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{6-Hearts}{7-Spades} for a straight to the nine and a low to the eight.

Ivey is back down to 90,000.
