Age Triumphs over Youth in Heads-Up Battle

I've still got it, kids

Earlier this afternoon, the WSOP-Europe's reigning Main Event Champion Annette Obrestad played ten-time bracelet winner and all-around poker legend Doyle Brunson in a best of three heads-up no-limit hold'em match right here at the Empire. Brunson emerged the victor, defeating Obrestad 2-0, though he had to catch a few cards against the young phenom to get there.

In Match #1, Obrestad got her money in on the flop with an open-ended straight draw and was called by Brunson who had paired up on the flop. Though Obrestad hit a queen-high straight on the turn, Brunson rivered a king-high straight and notched the win.

Match #2 came to an end after only about fifteen minutes of play between the two. The money went in on a jack-high flop, Obrestad holding {K-?} {J-?} , out-kicking Brunson's {J-?} {3-?}. Luck struck again for Texas Dolly, however, as he turned a three, making two pair. Obrestad couldn't improve on the river, and the match went to Brunson.

Both bracelet winners will be back at the Empire for the £10,000 WSOP-E Main Event in a few days time. Perhaps a re-match is in order?
