Metaal Doubles Through Ribes

Govert Metaal
Govert Metaal

From under the gun, Govert Metaal raised to 2,000. Sylvain Ribes made the call from the button, and David "ODB" Baker called from the big blind. From there, all three players witnessed the {8-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop roll out, and Baker checked. Metaal fired a continuation bet of 3,700, Ribes called, and Baker folded.

The turn was the {A-Hearts}, which prompted a check from Metaal. Ribes slid out 4,700, but couldn't shake Metaal just yet. He called.

The {A-Clubs} paired the board on the river. After Metaal checked, Ribes fired all in. Metaal snap-called for his last 11,600. Ribes tabled the {K-Spades}{J-Spades} for air and Metaal the {J-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for two pair.

Ace High Better Than Queen High

From under the gun, Roberto Romanello raised to 2,500. Edouard Mignot called on the button and the dealer produced the {7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} on the flop. Romanello bet 3,500 and Mignot called.

The turn was the {7-Spades} and both players checked to see the {2-Spades} come out on the river. After Romanello checked, Mignot bet 8,000. Romanello called.

"Queen high," said Mignot, but Romanello waited patiently and silently for him to table his hand. He announced again that he had queen high, but Romanello waited until he turned up his {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}. Then, Romanello showed the {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} for ace high and won the pot.

Hellmuth Plays Bad and Romanello Is a Moron

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Roberto Romanello and Phil Hellmuth have been verbally jousting for the better part of the last 10 minutes. The two are going back and forth and it all began when Romanello told Hellmuth he played a hand bad. Hellmuth didn't take too kindly and has been ranting about how Romanello plays bad himself and just gets lucky. Romanello kept digging a little bit more into Hellmuth, who eventually called Romanello a moron.

The entire room seems to be enjoying Hellmuth's rant as it's lightened up the atmosphere in here with the money bubble approaching. With Romanello on Hellmuth's direct left, this verbal battle could spark some interesting play coming up.
