Miller Sends Roussis to the Rail

Level 13 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Artem Miller raised to 7,500 and picked up one caller in Marcin Jaworski. A short-stacked Theodoros Roussis pushed for 27,500 and Miller raised, Jaworski folded.

Theodoros Roussis: {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Artem Miller: {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

Much to the displeasure of Roussis, his opponent paired up on the {Q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop. Both the {10-Diamonds} turn and the {10-Hearts} river were blanks and Roussis was eliminated.

Valent No More

"You missed a big one," Julian Adamson said and indeed a big stack was missing from table 94, as the seat that formerly belonged to Vladimir Valent was now empty. The chips went just a few centimeters over and right into the stack of Gerrit Muller, who once again claimed the top spot on Day 1A: Word on the street is a limped pot gave both players two pair and Muller had the best of it.

Tedeschi Doubles Through Baars

Level 13 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

With more than 50,000 already in the middle and the turn showing {9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}, Giuseppe Tedeschi moved all in for the last 36,500 and Nicolaas Baars was in the think tank. The Dutchman eventually called and Tedeschi showed {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts} for a pair of nines. Baars only had two outs with the {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and failed to get there after a blank {A-Clubs} on the river.

Schmauch Joins the Bigger Stacks

The {A-Diamonds}{6-Spades} of James Bullimore were all but rushed away as his kicker problem against the dominating ace of Corentin Schmauch found no help on a board of {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}.

Only moments later, Pasquale Grimaldi departed from one table over to reduce the field further. Only 33 hopefuls remain with 24 spots paid, and they are led by Gerrit Muller and Meir Avigal.

Zukernik Doubles; Wendt Departs

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Philipp Zukernik
Philipp Zukernik

The cards of Meir Avigal were already in the muck as he paid off Philipp Zukernik for 33,000. Zukernik had been all in with the {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades} and his pair ended up best on a board of {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{4-Spades}{9-Spades}{Q-Hearts}.

One table over, Martin Wendt was left empty-handed without anything to show for as he ran with a big pocket pair into an even bigger one. Wendt ended up all in for more than 120,000 preflop with pocket jacks against the {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs} of Nicolaas Baars. The superior pair was in no threat on the {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds} board and Baars jumped to nearly 100 big blinds as a result.

Ferrara Doubles Through Glinski

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

With plenty of chips in the middle already, Dariusz Glinski pushed on the river of a board {7-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and his sole remaining opponent Marino Ferrara called after some consideration for 45,000.

Glinski was forced to turn over {A-Clubs}{4-Spades} for a bluff gone wrong and Ferrara tabled the {10-Spades}{7-Spades} for two pair, tens and sevens.

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

With the eliminations of Marc Anthony Joseph and Zoran Stojanovic, the field has been reduced to the last 27 hopefuls and they have redrawn to the last three tables. The money bubble for Day 1A is imminent, as just the top 24 spots get paid.
