PokerNews Live Reporter Herbie Teope is based in Kansas City, Missouri.

Teope makes the transition to poker after serving as an NFL beat reporter for multiple major outlets for 17 years. He spent time covering the Kansas City Chiefs (2006-15, 2019-23), with positions split between The Kansas City Star, The Topeka Capital-Journal, and The Associated Press. He also covered the New Orleans Saints for The Times-Picayune (2016-17).

A versatile journalist, Teope also served as a New Orleans-based reporter covering the NFL at the national level for the NFL Network | NFL.com (2018-19). He won a regional Emmy award while with Time Warner Cable Metro Sports, a former TV sports network in Kansas City.

Before entering the civilian sector, Teope enjoyed a 20-year active-duty career in the U.S. Army, where he found a love of poker. He holds a Bachelor of Science in journalism and mass communications, with an outside concentration in psychology, from Kansas State University.
