A laundry list of notables still remain in the field, including; David Diaz, Eugene Katchalov, Maria Ho, Gavin Smith, Katie Dozier, Bernard Lee, Amnon Filippi, Dani Stern, Mike McDonald, Taylor Paur, Sammy Farha, Brock Parker, Jackie Glazier, David Pham, Gabe Kaplan, Kevin Pollak, Brian Hastings, Eric Baldwin and Faraz Jaka to name a few.

Unable to survive the day were Justin Bonomo, Tony Dunst, Darvin Moon, Bryan Devonshire, David Williams, Mike Sexton Erik Seidel, Brian Rast, Isaac Haxton, Chad Brown, Jeffrey Lisandro, Mike Matusow, Martin Staszko, Scott Seiver and the legendary Billy Baxter.

The Day 1a and 1b fields were kept separate throughout play. Day 1a players were confined to the Amazon Room in the Orange and Purple Sections. By the end of player only two tables remained in the Orange Section.

The Day 1b field was quite a bit larger. They were spread across the Brasilia and Pavilion Rooms. The Pavilion Room was empty shortly after dinner and almost the whole Red Section was broken in the Brasilia Room.

William John began play as the far and away chip leader when he returned with 266,700. He lost a large pot to begin the day to Mark Demirdjian and steadily bled chips throughout the day. His day ended shortly after returning from dinner when he held got all in on a ten-high flop holding {A-} {K-}. Demirdjian flopped a set of tens and turned a full house to eliminate John.

Maria Ho had a successful Day 2 and even stopped to talk to our lovely Lynn Gilmartin. In one hand Ho opened and was three-bet to 6,000. She called and the flop came {J-Spades} {A-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}. Ho check-called 8,000 and the turn came {7-Diamonds}. Both players checked and the river came {8-Spades}. Ho bet 14,000, got a call and tabled {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}. Her opponent flashed pocket kings and she was near 200,000.

Day 2c kicks off tomorrow at 12:00 PM PST and will have the survivors from Day 1c. The surviving players will finally condense into one field on Day 3, starting on Thursday at noon. Follow all the WSOP Main Event action live on PokerNews.

Now we'll leave you with some of Lynn Gilmartin's visual highlights from throughout the day:

Davis Doubles Big In Last Hand of the Night

In the last hand at their table, action folded around to Terry Grimes on the button. He looked down at his cards and said, "Let's get this over with," before moving all in for well over 200,000. The small blind got out of the way, but Kevin Davis called off for nearly 200,000 from the big blind.

Showdown

Grimes{A-}{K-}
Davis{A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}

Grimes was no doubt kicking himself after discovering he'd run into the granddaddy of all hands. The board ran out {Q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Davis, clearly rattled on the hand, doubled to 394,800 on the last hand of the night.

Haxton Gone on Last Hand

We were just over at Isaac Haxton's table and noticed that Isaac Haxton was standing by the table and was the only player not bagging any chips. Karina Jett was kind enough to fill us in, letting us know that Haxton held {a-Spades}{q-Spades} on a {a-Clubs}{2-Spades}{k-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and got all his chips in on the river against Bryan Vanrijsbergen. Unfortunately for Haxton, Vanrijsbergen held {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} and that was the end of the line for Haxton

Boeree Ships

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Liv Boeree fired 7,500 with the board reading {5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. Her opponent raised to 21,000, and Boeree moved in for an additional 43,900.

Boeree's opponent tanked for the better part of four minutes, asking Boeree a myriad of questions. She didn't respond to any of them, rather she sat silently, staring at one spot on the felt.

The player eventually found a fold, and Boeree quietly raked in the pot.

Timely End-of-Night Triple for Lindley

Christina Lindley just tripled up in a three-way all in. She had pocket queens against one opponent's ace-king and another's pocket kings. A queen on the turn and a board pair on the river finished Lindley with a full house to give her the win and the triple to 65,000 in chips.

Five More in the Brasilia Room

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

With the clock paused at 10 minutes, the tournament staff has just announced that five more hands will be played in the Brasilia Room before the players bag and tag for the night.
