Some of the notable names who made it through the first day include Juha Helppi, Gus Hansen, Arnaud Mattern, James "Flushy" Dempsey, and the lone woman in the Day 1a field, Julie Donnaz. Some of the pros were not so lucky though. Among the casualties of today's action were pros Chris Ferguson, Theo Jorgensen, Ramzi Jelassi, Fabrice Soulier, Dario Minieri, Anthony Lellouche, and Jason Mercier.
Tomorrow will bring a fresh set of faces for Day 1b, including all of the Poker Battle crew. The flop came

On a flop of
the action checked around to a player in late position who made it 1,200 to go. Four players made the call including Ferguson and Jacques Zaicik. The
fell on the turn and a player in the small blind passed the first action to Ferguson who moved all in for a total of 10,825. The player to Chris' immediate left then quickly put in a raise in an effort to try and isolate Ferguson. The player who bet the flop folded as did Zaicik, which brought the action to the small blind who surprised practically everyone at the table when he shoved all in over the top, having both Chris and the player to his left covered. The call was made and at the showdown the following hands were revealed:Ferguson:

Needing a spade to stay alive, Ferguson rapped the table conceding defeat when the
fell on the river, enabling his opponents to take back their all-in bets and split the main pot.

.It was checked to Dempsey who continued his aggression with a 3,050 bet. His opponent promptly made this 7,000 to play. Not deterred by this move, Dempsey re-raised up to 23,000 signaling his intent to play for his whole stack. The message must have beamed across loud and clear as the big blind player duly folded.

The board runs out
with the two live players check-checking the whole way. When all is said and done, Dymling turns over the and the one at a time. His full house is good, as the original raiser open-mucks his

Was Ygborn making a move and did Zaicik spot that? No cards were exposed so we'll never know.
