What Are the Odds: PartyPoker's Women's World Open 0001

Women poker players are in London, poised for the August 7th start of PartyPoker's inaugural Women's World Open. The 36-player field will be vying for a piece of the $108,000 prize pool.

While the field boasts some tough international competitors, Liz Lieu appears to be the odds-on favorite going into the event. PartyBets.com has the odds for a Lieu victory set at 6:1. A PartyBets spokesman said, "Liz is one of the most fearsome players in the world… we had to make her favorite. The UK's Katherine Hartree is not far behind. Over the last couple of years Katherine has been one of the most consistent female poker players in Europe and she has the knowledge and experience in this format."

Katherine Hartree doesn't have quite the name recognition as Liz Lieu, but there's no denying Hartree has been having a great year. Hartree made a deep money finish in the Aussie Millions Championship event, followed by a final table in the Vienna Spring Poker Festival's Championship event. Hartree's odds, along with former PartyPoker World Open winner Pippa Flanders, are currently set at 7:1. Lucy Rokach, who currently occupies seventh place on the women's all-time money list, is at 8:1. Academy Award-nominated actress and 2005 WSOP Women's Champion Jennifer Tilly is going off at 9:1.

Other notables in the PartyPoker Women's World Open field include Xuyen "Bad Girl" Pham, actress Shannon Elizabeth, European Ladies champion Jackie Meecham, Jackie Vaswani, Deborah Rogers, Beverly Pace, Jen Mason, Maria Demetriou and Kara Scott.
