Copenhagen, Denmark, is the site of the latest European Poker Tour stop, with many of the world's best poker players gathering to battle for the title. The Day 1a opening session drew 225 players, with 99 surviving to Thursday's Day 2. Several Danish players made it through the day's play and not only survived but prospered, including stars Albert Iversen (third, 61,500) and Frederik Hostrup (fourth, 60,000), but Norway's Thor Hansen topped all comers on the day. Hansen finished Day 1a with 74,700 in chips.

Other survivors from the star-laden session included Rasmus Nielsen, Remy Biechel, Jani Sointula, PokerNews' own Noah Boeken, Trond Erik Eidsvig, Team PokerStars pros Luca Pagano and Marcin Horecki, and Arnaud Mattern. The day, though, saw the exit of many other notables, including Joao Barbosa, Carter Gill, Magnus Petersson, Gino Alacqua, Erik Friberg, Carlos Mortensen, Juha Helppi and Christian Grundtvig
