The Sunday Briefing: Cezarescu, Turker, and Desveaux Earn Sunday Titles

Online Tournament Results

Coming on the heels of EPT Tallinn and LAPT Punta del Este, the first online-poker Sunday of August on PokerStars kicked off with three players earning six-figure scores. Robert "rrobert333" Cezarescu, Sadan "the_snail03" Turker, and Scott "PokerToronto" Desveaux were also among those victorious on the virtual felt on Sunday.

PokerStars Sunday Million ($1M Guaranteed)

Buy-inEntrantsPrize Pool
$200+$156,565$1,313,000

Despite a drop in attendance from last week, the Sunday Million still produced three six-figure scores. The biggest went to "TY4Stacks2." Despite entering the final table third in chips, "TY4Stacks2" quickly took the chip lead holding 88 against "26071985's" A2 when the board ran out 973510.

When play reached heads-up, the final two agreed to a deal guaranteeing each more than $160,000, leaving $20,000 on the line. After building up a sizable chip lead, "TY4Stacks2" finished the deal with A7 against "KevinV's" 33. The board came down 1098AQ to close it out for "TY4Stacks2," earning $185,384.15 for the win.

PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up ($500K Guaranteed)

Buy-inEntrantsPrize Pool
$200+$153,363$672,600

Unlike the Sunday Million, the Sunday Warm-Up did see a slight increase in numbers this week. The biggest name at the final table was undoubtedly Matt "ch0ppy" Kay, fresh off a deep run in the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event. Despite entering the final table second in chips, Kay lost a flip and followed that with a bad beat. He got it in with QQ against "el canbass'" 1010. The board rolled out J42510, delivering a cruel two-out river to eliminate Kay.

The eventual winner of the tournament was "mr.salgado30," the one who won the early race against Kay. After reaching a deal with "el canbass," "mr.salgado30" took it down with ace-seven offsuit as well. It was his A7 against 109. The better hand held up as the board ran out 732KK.
