The 2014 GPI European Poker Awards are taking place Wednesday evening at the Salle des Ambassadeurs in the Casino Barrière de Deauville, and PokerNews is on site to provide you with the winners, interviews and highlights from the event!

Poker players and industry professionals from all over Europe are in attendance to celebrate European poker's most prestigious awards. The event is being hosted by EPT Live commentator Joe Stapleton and sponsored by PokerStars and Lucien Barriere Hôtels et Casinos.

Here's a look at the schedule tonight's events:

  • 8:30 pm - 9 pm: Player of the Year Awards (already determined and based on the 2013 GPI Rankings)
  • 9 pm - 10 pm: Dinner
  • 10 pm: GPI European Poker Awards

We already know that Ole Schemion has won Player of the Year and Ana Marquez has won Female Player of the Year. That aside, here's a look at the rest of the nominees:

Rookie of the Year: Max Altergott, Matthew Ashton, Martin Finger and Adrian Mateos Diaz.

Best Tournament Performance: Barny Boatman, Philipp Gruissem, Roger Hairabedian, Marvin Rettenmaier and Ole Schemion.

Internet Player of the Year: Viktor Blom, Niklas Heinecker, Toby Lewis and Chris Moorman.

Poker Industry Person of the Year: Marc Convey (poker journalist and broadcaster), Lee Davy (poker journalist and podcast personality), Neil Johnson (Pokerstars Live Poker specialist) and Edgar Stuchly (EPT President and Director of Pokerstars Live Event Europe).

Best Event of the Year: EPT Barcelona, EPT Grand Final Monte Carlo, Full Tilt Poker Galway Festival and Prague Poker Festival.

Lifetime Achievement Award: To Be Determined.

The above awards were voted on by a panel of nine individuals this afternoon in Deauville. The panel consists of a broad range of poker personalities, including players, writers, and industry professionals.

Chidwick himself will receive an award this evening as he's picked up the UK Player of the Year. That honor was based on his performance in 2013. Others receiving Player of the Year in their respective countries are:

POY Italy: Dario Sammartino
POY Netherlands: Govert Metaal
