Former NFL Star Jevon Kearse to Play PPC Puerto Plata in Dominican Republic
From April 1-7, 2014, the PPC Poker Tour (PPC) will host the 2014 PPC Puerto Plata Poker Open, a nine-event series culminating in a $1,100 Main Event, at the Coral Reef Casino in the Dominican Republic. What’s more, former NFL star Jevon “The Freak” Kearse is confirmed to play.
Kearse was an All-American defensive end for the Florida Gators before being selected in the first round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. He spent 11 seasons in the league between the Titans and Philadelphia Eagles, during which time he was named to three Pro Bowls. After being clocked at 4.43 seconds in the 40-yard dash and recording a 38-inch vertical leap coupled with his 86-inch wingspan, Kearse earned the nickname “The Freak.”
“Like Aruba, Puerto Plata fits right in line with the ultimate ‘Poker-cation.’ Seven days of great poker, incredible beaches, food and nightlife,” said PPC Commissioner Sandy Swartzbaugh. “Over 50 bars & restaurants within a three-mile radius gives the area a feel of Key West. Everything is within walking distance and all events will start at 3 p.m. giving players time to enjoy everything the Dominican Republic has to offer."

Puerto Plata is already one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Adding the PPC Poker Tour for years to come will only add to what the area has to offer.
