2017 GUKPT Season Starts Jan. 29 in London
The Grosvenor UK Poker Tour embarks on its 11th consecutive season Jan. 29, kicking off 2017 at the iconic “The Poker Room” located above the Grosvenor Victoria Casino in the English capital, London.
London is the first of nine stops scheduled on the 2017 GUKPT and should, in part, help the organizers reach an ambitious total of £1.8 million in guarantees during the coming year.
When the GUKPT was last in London for a £1,100 Main Event, the second starting flight broke the tour’s records for total number of entrants on one day when 243 players sat down at the tables, taking the total attendance to 394 and smashing the £200,000 guarantee by £194,000.
That particular tournament ended in bizarre circumstances. Once Spanish superstar Adrian Mateos bust in ninth place, the remaining eight players at the final table chopped the remaining prize pool between themselves to win between £24,049 and £66,528, the latter being collected by the man announced as champion, Martin Hogarty.

This season, the GUKPT management team is hopeful of a similar sized field to that during Season 10, something that may be helped by the large number of poker players already in London for the inaugural PokerStars Festival.
