PokerStars Announces the PokerStars London Series and Key Dates
In a Feb. 22 press release, PokerStars announced that it will be joining forces with London's Hippodrome Casino to create a new festival dubbed the PokerStars London Series with five stops planned for 2017.
The festivals will feature bigger guarantees, deeper stacks, longer blind levels and extended late registration periods when compared to the UKIPT Series and the Hippodrome Classics based off of feedback from players who attended both festivals.
“Poker has always been a social game played for matchsticks or pennies in homes and neighborhoods all over the world,” said Eric Hollreiser, vice president of corporate communications for Amaya Inc. and PokerStars. “While being committed to growing the game globally, PokerStars is also investing in promoting poker in local communities in the U.K. The new London Series is designed to bring together the most loved parts of the Hippodrome Classics and the U.K. & Ireland Poker Series and make them even better for poker players living in and visiting London.”
The first event on March 2-5, a £275 PokerStars London Series, will feature a £40,000 guarantee, 25,000 opening stack and four starting flights. Additionally, the fourth starting flight will be in turbo format March 4.
While there will be no re-entry available within flights, players eliminated in earlier flights can register again in later flights. Additionally, late registration for each flight will be open until the end of the sixth blind level.
Players will be able to satellite into the event starting on Feb. 26 for as low as £1.10 online at PokerStars or at the Hippodrome Casino starting on March 2.
