Joshua Berardi Wins GSSS Spring 2017 Edition High Roller

Joshua "WilfordBrimley" Berardi won the Garden State Super Series (GSSS) Spring 2017 Edition #11 - $50,000 GTD NLH High Roller at partypoker NJ and BorgataPoker.com for $10,389, his highest online cash to date.

He made a heads-up deal with runner-up "Mr._Robot," who took $10,361.

The GSSS Spring Edition, which ran March 19-26, featured 11 events and a combined $265,000 in prize pools, a huge drop from GSSS V in October.

GSSS V featured 75 events and boasted a $1.1 million in prize pools. The change signals a large drop in traffic of the partypoker NJ network - who was the industry leader for 2.5 years - until PokerStars NJ entered the market a year ago.

Despite the reduced schedule, nearly half of the events failed to meet their posted guarantees.

"Tiger915" was the biggest winner of the festival after he outlasted a field of 363 players to win the GSSS Spring '17 #10 - $100,000 GTD NLH Championship Event [Re-Entry] for $19,624. "Lakad" was the other five digit winner in this tournament collecting the runner-up prize of $13,907, while Thomas "romet05" Romeo recorded his largest score on New Jersey regulated networks with a fifth-place finish worth $6,915.

Two other players on the final table of the $50,000 GTD NLH High Roller went on to appear on multiple final tables during the online poker festival. Michael "Mazz10" Azzaro banked $7,500 after finishing in third place in the High Roller. He also finishing in fourth place in the GSSS Spring '17 #1 - $10,000 Six Max Hold 'Em [Re-Entry] for $1,015 and in fifth place in the GSSS Spring '17 #3 - $5,000 GTD NLH [2x Re-Entry] for $300.

Meanwhile, David "TheKing411" Coleman snagged eighth place in the High Roller for $3,500, collected the top prize of $1,000 in the GSSS Spring '17 #3 - $5,000 GTD NLH [2x Re-Entry] and banked another $1,871 including bounties after finishing in third place in the GSSS Spring '17 #4 - $10,000 GTD NLH Bounty.

Yong "OWNEDLOLUMAD" Kwon patched together a good series despite not winning a tournament. He took third place in the GSSS Spring '17 #1 - $10,000 Six Max Hold 'Em [Re-Entry] for $1,392, seventh place in the GSSS Spring '17 #2 - $50,000 GTD NLH [Re-Entry] for $2,550 and second place in the GSSS Spring '17 #4 - $10,000 GTD NLH Bounty for $2,497 including bounties.

Daniel "mj23style" Sewnig continued to impress by finishing in first place as part of a three-way deal in the GSSS Spring '17 #2 - $50,000 GTD NLH [Re-Entry] for $8,988. Also involved in the deal were "Moose4Life" (second place - $6,543) and Craig "Cpan44" Panella (third place - $6,219).

Other notable players to win tournaments in the series included Keith "T1mB3y_B33F" Donovan (GSSS Spring '17 #5 - $10,000 GTD NLH Rebuy - $3,766), David "dak161616" Kotler (GSSS Spring '17 #7 - $10,000 GTD PLO Rebuy - $3,000) and Renata "TaintedMaverick" Colache (GSSS Spring '17 #8 - $10,000 GTD NLH 1R/1A - $3,450).
