888poker Sponsors WSOPC for Second Year with First Stop in Argentina

WSOP Circuit

For the first time in World Series of Poker history, the WSOP Circuit will be heading to Argentina for a seven-day poker festival at the Casino Iguazú. The casino is located near the border of Brazil and the majestic Iguazú Falls, one of the seven wonders of the world.

According to a press release by 888poker, the online poker room also announced that it will be the official WSOP Circuit sponsor for the second consecutive year, which includes the stop in Argentina.

The schedule will feature six championship ring events including the Crazy Eights Side Event and the Main Event. Players will be able to qualify for events online at 888poker via satellites and feeder tournaments starting at just $0.01.

In addition to this poker festival, others are expected to be announced in South America in the coming weeks.

Not surprisingly, 888poker is excited about both expanding its presence in South America and its ongoing partnership with WSOP, which also includes a third straight year in a partnership with the main brand in Las Vegas.

"888poker is delighted to have renewed our WSOPC sponsorship for the second year running, as part of our ongoing mission to expand 888poker’s presence in the South American market,” said Senior Vice President & Head of B2C at 888 Holdings, Itai Pazner, in a press release. "This renewed partnership is a testament to our increasingly dominant position in the industry and our commitment to making live poker accessible and affordable to as many players possible, the world over. We are very excited and proud to be bringing the most popular poker series in the world to the renowned Casino Iguazú, one of the most acclaimed casinos in South America. This is an amazing opportunity to be part of the world’s biggest and most prestigious live tournament, from as little as 1¢. I wish all our players the best of luck!"

WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart was also "thrilled" to showcase the WSOP Circuit in Argentina for the first time.

"The first ever WSOP Circuit in Argentina is the latest development for the Series," said Stewart. "The WSOP Circuit continues to expand throughout the world and we are thrilled to reach South America with this exciting event in Argentina. We are optimistic the event will be well supported and we can continue to host bigger and better events each year."

Casino Iguazu is also proud to be hosting one of the most premier brands of poker and organizing the event with 888poker.

"Iguazu Casino provides a spectacular location for the first ever WSOP Circuit Event in Argentina," Marketing Director at Casino Iguazu Ferando Bianchi said. "Located just minutes away from the Iguazu Falls, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the famous casino will be organizing the event along with 888poker. With a tropical environment where visitors are welcomed with warm temperatures throughout the year, Casino Iguazu has been one of the most well-known entertainment centers in South America for more than twenty years. Widely acknowledged as one of the leaders of amusement and sophistication at an international level, the luxury facilities are already in motion to welcome players who will battle for this chapter of the most important poker series of the planet."
