Sunday Briefing: Mike Dietrich Takes Down PokerStars Sunday Million

Winning the PokerStars Sunday Million is no longer a pipe dream for Canada's Mike Dietrich after he came out on top of a 5,948-strong field to secure the title and $142,031 in prize money.

Dietrich, who plays as "Pipedream17" at PokerStars, is no stranger to winning major online poker tournaments, having taken down the likes of the now defunct Sunday Mulligan at Full Tilt for $133,000 and the Sunday 500 at PokerStars for $91,500. This latest score, however, is the largest of Dietrich's career and pushes him through the $7 million in online winning's barrier according to

A heads-up deal between Dietrich and runner-up Rytis "RichieA7s" Praninskas of Lithuania saw the former collect $142,031 and the latter a still impressive $131,300.

Another tournament that ended with a heads-up chop was the $1,050 Sunday Grand. Some 205 players bought into this event and when there were only two players remaining, a deal was struck between China's "lsy347422126" and Canada's "12u55" that saw both players walk away with $35,531; 12u55 collected one cent more to be deemed champion.

Over at 888poker, Germany's "M4zlTov" triumphed in the $150,000 Whale to turn $1,050 into $44,000, while another German in the shape of "allesrigged" took down the $100,000 Mega Deep for a cool $19,958.

In the $40,000 Turbo Mega Deep it was "GangstaGo" and "progree69" who claimed the lion's share of the prize pool. A heads-up deal saw them bank $8,275 and $7,518 respectively.

Meanwhile, the $30,000 Sunday Crocodile was won by "sharadrao" for $6,450 and the $60,000 Sunday Challenge saw "allinfds" turn $109 into $13,034.

$83,500 Score in the $215 Title Fight

At partypoker, the $500,000 guaranteed Title Fight had another overlay, this time to the tune of $61,400, which makes it one of the best value tournaments found online. "hannoah" took full advantage of the additional prize money, coming out on top of a 2,193 field to win a massive $83,500, the largest cash at partypoker this week.

Another large score went to "Illijix133" who defeated Juha "JHelppi" Helppi heads-up in the $150K Gtd Super High Roller to secure a $48,073 prize for his $2,600 investment.

This weekend's Main Event saw its guarantee boosted from $150,000 to $200,000 and also saw the event end in a four-handed chop. "rauros5" was the winner and banked $25,447, "Brttyy" finished second for $21,431 and Paul "pvasnunes" Vas Nunes bust in third for $19,455. Fourth place and $16,945 went to "ToniErdmann".
