Sidney Steinmann Ends WSOPC Holland Casino as Day 2 Chip Leader

Sidney Steinmann

The day is done and the field size has been reduced to just 31 hopefuls in the Main Event at the 2018 WSOP International Circuit Holland Casino Rotterdam. Day 2 started with 97 players out of 181 total entries.

Sidney Steinmann ended the day with the chip lead as he bagged 498,500. He is closely followed by Govert Metaal (470,000) and Jay Oosterbaan (450,000). The money bubble has yet to burst as only 21 players will end up in the money and will be guaranteed to take home at least €2,888. The winner will walk away with €67,766.

Day 2 Action

The day started at 1 p.m. local time and the first bust-out happened in just the second hand of the day. Alex van der Werf managed to eliminate Dominik Kulicki with ace-queen against ace-ten. The board ran out without anything spectacular and Van der Werf collected the first scalp of the day. Van der Werf ended the day with a stack of 142,500.

Steinmann had the best day of them all as he started the day with 110,700 and ended it with the chip lead, bagging 498,500. High Roller Metaal ended the day in second place when he bagged 470,000. Oosterbaan was very surprised to learn at the end of the day that he had collected a stack of 450,000, enough to claim the third place on the leaderboard.

Plenty of players weren't able to bag a stack for Day 3. Some of the players that got eliminated along the way include Albert Hoekendijk, Louis Salter, Pim Gieles, Teun Kooij, and two-time bracelet winner Mark Radoja.

Radoja lost a pot where he and his opponent both had top pair but Radoja had the lower kicker. Shortly after that, he busted out of the tournament. Record holder Valentin Vornicu also didn't' make it to Day 3. Vornicu is here in Rotterdam to try and win his 13th WSOP Circuit ring. He immediately jumped into the €550 Monster Stack tournament to get another shot at WSOP Circuit gold.

Other players that did make Day 3 include Day 1c chip leader Brian Kamphorst (283,000), Tobias Peters (255,000), Day 1a chip leader Marco Rodrigues (209,000), High Roller runner-up Kevin Paque (132,000) and Sander van Wesemael (88,000). They're all gunning for that first-place prize of €67,766, but before they have a chance of winning the tournament the first step is to reach the money tomorrow as 11 more players need to be eliminated before the money is reached.

The tournament will continue on Friday, September 6, at 1 p.m. local time and they plan to play down to a final table. PokerNews will be on site to report on the action.
