Rui Ferreira Bags the Day 1a Chip Lead in the partypoker Powerfest Main Event

Rui Ferreira

Portugal's Rui Ferreira has been tearing up the online felts in recent times and is in prime position for another huge win after bagging the chip lead on Day 1a of the Powerfest $1,050 Main Event at partypoker.

Ferreira, who plays at partypoker under a Dutch flag, will head into Day 2 with a 164 big blind stack of 2,298,444 in chips. Jan Strazisar (2,059,015), Leon Sturm (1,978,650), Simon Mattsson (1,862,326), Mary Pudmoreff (1,639,475), Salvatore Bertino (1,422,338), and Joaquim Countinho also virtually bagged at least 100 big blind stacks for Day 2.

Rounding out the top 10 in chip stacks in Day 1a were Luciano Hollanda (1,299,901), Tobias Seethaler (1,234,416), and Martin Mulsow (1,233,414).

Meanwhile, partypoker Ambassador and Twitch streamer Courtney Gee also ended the day with a big stack of 1,137,694.

Day 1a was a huge success with 521 runners generating $521,000 towards the prize pool to make it likely that the $1 million guarantee slapped on this event will be smashed with two more opening flights to still be played out.

Two More Opening Flights to Go!

There is still plenty of time to get into the action in the Powerfest Main Event at partypoker with two more opening flights to go. Already 78 players have advanced to Day 2 — where they will start the day in the money — and why can't you join them?

Don't stress if the $1,050 buy-in is too big for your bankroll or tastes as there are plenty of qualifiers and feeder tournaments running around the clock. You can qualify for just one cent, something every player can afford!

Day 1b kicks off today, Sunday April 25 at 7:05 p.m. BST (2:05 p.m. EDT) with players starting with a huge 100,000 chip stack and blinds increasing slowly at every 20 minutes. Players can re-enter once during the first 12 blind levels and the day will end with just 15 percent of the field advancing to Day 2.

Meanwhile, the third and final opening flight begins on Monday, April 26 at 4:05 p.m. BST (11:05 a.m. EDT) and will be faster-paced with nine-minute blind levels. Otherwise, the structure is identical to that of the other two opening flights.

Surviving opening flight players will then reconvene for action on Monday, April 26 at 8:05 p.m. BST (3:05 p.m. EDT) with blinds at 7,000/14,000/1,750a and increase every 25 minutes. The action on Day 2 will conclude with just nine players remaining with the final table playing out the following day on Tuesday, April 27.
