"eXpaxion" Dominates En Route to 888poker $100K Mystery Bounty Victory

888poker

Montenegro-based online poker grinder "eXpaxion" put on a dominant display at the final table of the 888poker $100,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event, eventually emerging as a worthy champion. "eXpaxion" sat down second in chips and only briefly found themselves outside the top two before getting the job done in a one-on-one battle with Romania's "BrittneySpew."

The April 7 edition of the $100,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event drew in 1,087 entrants, each paying $109, and contributing to the $108,700 prize pool. Mystery bounties came into play from Level 18 onwards, and there were some real beauties among them.

Six players opened golden envelopes containing $1,000, two scooped $3,000 prizes, while one lucky person banked a cool $10,000 just for eliminating an opponent. That five-figure mystery bounty prize went to "TAJJMAAKHAL."

Day 1 ended on April 7 with only eight players in the hunt for the title. Denmark's "kojgysto888" led the way with 3,783,355 chips, or 76 big blinds. "markwalter" of the United Kingdom brought up the rear, their 692,117 chips worth 14 big blinds.

The eight finalists had not even gotten themselves comfortable when one of them was relieved of their chips. With blinds of 25,000/50,000/6,250, "BrittneySpew" min-raised to 100,000 on the button with ace-ten of diamonds. "GriggAs" three-bet to 350,000 from the small blind with king-jack, leaving themselves only 290,100 chips behind. Those chips were called off when "BrittneySpew" four-bet enough to set "GriggAs" all in. "GriggAs" flopped a jack but needed to fade a diamond flush draw or an ace to stay in the tournament. The turn bricked but the deuce of diamonds completed a flush for "BrittneySpew" and the final table was down to seven players.

Twenty minutes later, the start-of-the-day chip leader, "kojgysto888" bowed out in seventh. Blinds had increased to 30,000/60,000/7,500a, and "eXpaxion" raised to 132,000 from the cutoff with what turned out to be pocket aces. "kojgysto888" called on the button with king-eight of hearts, and "BrownBrit" came along for the ride with nine-five of clubs in the big blind. "BrownBrit" checked the eight-king-ten flop, "eXpaxion" continued with a 157,905 bet, which "kojgysto888" raised to 438,952. "BrownBrit" ducked out of the way, but "eXpaxion" jammed, covering the 1,006,381 chips "kojgysto888" had behind. "kojgysto888" called all-in with their two pair, only for sixes to land on the turn and river to counterfeit their hand and remove them from the final table. Ouch.

"Baronas_" of Lithuania busted less than ten minutes later. "eXpaxion" min-raised to 140,000 from the cutoff with the lowly eight-five, "Baronas_" three-bet all-in for 1,578,809 on the button with pocket tens before "BrittneySpew" moved all-in for 2,194,890 in the big blind with ace-queen of hearts. The initial raise gave up the ghost, and it was off to the races for the all-in player. An ace on the flop left "Baronas_" drawing thin, and they failed to catch any of their two outs on the turn or river.

Five became four with the untimely demise of "BrownBrit." They lost all but 11 big blinds after "markwalter" cracked queens with ace-jack, and that short stack went into the middle with queen-jack of clubs from the big blind after "eXpaxion" open-shoved from the small blind. "eXpaxion" showed eight-four of hearts, and proceeded to sike an eight in the river to put "BrownBrit" out of their misery.

Canada's "Takingdacash" was the next player eliminated, busting immediately after a scheduled break. "markwalter" made it 220,000 to go from the small blind while holding ace-four of hearts, "Takingdacash" three-bet all-in for 1,314,742 from the big blind with king-queen, and was called. Ace-high proved to be enough to relieve "Takingdacash" of their stack, leaving a trio of 888poker players to fight it out for the lion's share of the regular prize pool.

Three-handed play lasted almost an hour, ending in a dramatic hand between "markwalter" and "eXpaxion." Blinds were now 80,000/160,000/20,000a, and "markwalter" min-raised to 320,000 on the button. "eXpaxion" three-bet to 896,000 only for "markwalter" to click it back to 1,472,000. "eXpaxion" ripped it in, and "markwalter" called off the 2,362,081 chips they had behind. It was pocket queens for "eXpaxion" but a pair of kings in the hole for the at-risk player. "eXpaxion" flopped a full house, which held to send "markwalter" to the showers, halting their impressive comeback from the shortest stack at the start of the final table's action.

"eXpaxion" held a massive 13,402,308 to 2,902,692 chip lead over "BrittneySpew," and it proved too large of a bridge to gap for the latter.

Twenty minutes into the one-on-one battle, this hand occurred, which concluded the $100,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event. "BrittneySpew" limped in for 200,000 with six-five of spades, "eXpaxion" raised to 600,000 with pocket kings, and was called. A deuce-six-ten flop saw "eXpaxion" lead for 412,500, "BrittneySpew" shove for 1,915,744, and "eXpaxion" snap-call with the Cowboys. "BrittneySpew" couldn't find any outs on the turn or river, and fell in second place. "eXpaxion" became the latest champion of this exiting event, and recipient of $9,923 for their efforts.
