Poker Dream Expands Player of the Year Program with Ladies and Regional Awards
Table Of Contents
Poker Dream has announced a major expansion to its prestigious Player of the Year program, unveiling two new award categories for the 2026 season: Ladies Player of the Year (LPOY) and Regional Player of the Year (RPOY).
The additions build on the success of the Dream Player of the Year (DPOY) award and reflect Poker Dream’s continued focus on inclusivity and recognizing excellence across Asia’s diverse poker landscape.
Three Titles Up for Grabs in 2026
Players competing in Poker Dream events during the 2026 season will now have the opportunity to chase honors across three separate leaderboards:
Dream Player of the Year (DPOY)
The flagship award returns for 2026, recognizing the top overall performer across all eligible Poker Dream tournaments. The DPOY winner will receive a prize package valued at $15,000, consisting of $11,000 in tournament credit and $4,000 in hotel credit, redeemable during the 2027 season.
Ladies Player of the Year (LPOY)
Introduced to spotlight female competitors, the LPOY will be awarded to the highest-ranked woman on the DPOY leaderboard. Additional points will be available from non-freeroll Ladies Events. The LPOY winner will receive a prize valued at $5,000, including $3,500 in tournament credit and $1,500 in hotel credit.
Regional Player of the Year (RPOY)
The RPOY award aims to highlight regional excellence by recognizing the top DPOY point-earner from each of nine regions: China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand. Each regional champion will receive a prize package worth $3,000, made up of $2,000 in tournament credit and $1,000 in hotel credit.
Unified Points System
All three awards will operate under Poker Dream’s established DPOY points system, which allocates points based on tournament performance, factoring in field size, finishing position, and buy-in level. Full terms and conditions, including event eligibility and tournament credit usage, are outlined in Poker Dream’s official documentation.
“After the tremendous response to our DPOY award in 2025, we wanted to create more avenues to recognize the incredible skill and dedication across our player base,” said Anthony Wong, Business Development Manager of Poker Dream. “The introduction of LPOY and RPOY allows us to celebrate rising stars and dominant forces within specific demographics and regions. Our goal is to ensure every Poker Dream series is not just a competition, but a celebration of Asia’s vibrant poker culture.”
Looking Ahead to the 2026 Race
Tournament credits awarded to winners are designed to support continued participation, with credits usable across Poker Dream events throughout the 2027 season. Usage limits per series allow winners to spread their value across multiple tournaments.
The race for 2026 Player of the Year points officially begins on January 29, 2026, at Poker Dream 20 Malaysia, running from January 29 to February 9, 2026.
