The Hendon Mob

The Global Poker Awards ceremony in Las Vegas was canceled this year, but the GPI and The Hendon Mob are still handing out big awards to players from all over the world in 2026.

One of those receipients is Koen Roos, a Dutch poker player who set a flaghunting world record in 2025. The product of the Netherlands was presented with The Hendon Mob Award during Day 1c of The Hendon Mob Championship Event at The Festival in Bratislava at Banco Casino Bratislava.

Roos, who has $200,000 in The Hendon Mob live tournament cashes, traveled the world last year on a mission to break a meaningful record, and that was to cash in more countries and continents than anyone in poker history in a single year.

In November, with over a month left in the year, he earned his record-setting flag, a $447 cash for a third-place finish in a low-stakes no-limit hold'em tournament at Grand Casino Admiral Beograd in Serbia. He hit the half-century mark with time to spare. That was his final tournament cash of 2025.

Roos' 52 total cashes for just over $111,000 last year took place across five different continents, in countries such as the United States, Poland, Georgia, Belgium, Morocco, Malaysia, and South Korea.

The Trophy Chasing Never Stops

No Global Poker Awards doesn't mean poker players and industry people won't be rewarded for their performances. The Hendon Mob and Global Poker Index recently launched the GPI X THM trophy races for the 2026 poker season.

The GPI has added an extra award for Male Player of the Year to go along with the Female Player of the Year award that has been handed out for years. A third award, GPI Poker Player of the Year, is also back. Punnat Punsri from Thailand won the 2025 POY award and Kristen Foxen from Canada took home the Female POY award.

The GPI is also extending its Mid-Major Player of the Year award to one for the top male performer and one for the top female performer. There are many other awards, some new, up for grabs during the current calendar year, starting with the Celebrity x Sports Star Player of the Year, handed out to the top athlete or celebrity who makes their presence felt on the felt.

The Hendon Mob will also award the following trophies: THM Flag Hunter of the Year, THM Money List Winner, and THM Most Results. With or without an awards ceremony in Las Vegas, GPI and THM are still making sure those who do big things in poker receive recognition (and a cool trophy).
