Stanley Tang & Kelly Lucas Roll on Latest Hellmuth’s Home Game; Rampage "Completely Buried"
Table Of Contents
Season 2 of Hellmuth’s Home Game presented by Poker Night in America (PNIA) and sponsored by BetRivers is now airing on CBS Sports on Monday nights.
The nationally televised show, which was filmed at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada, is unique in that there is no commentary. Instead, the show is carried by table talk from Phil Hellmuth alongside a cast of fellow pros and friends in an intimate, relaxed cash game setting.
PokerNews watched Episode 4 of Season 2, a continuation of the week prior, and compiled a recap of some of the biggest hands and interesting storylines.
Here’s how things stacked up at the start of the episode:
| Seat | Player | Stack | Profit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Dan “Jungleman” Cate | $28,425 | -$11,575 |
| 2 | Kelly Lucas | $26,025 | +$16,025 |
| 3 | Phil Hellmuth | $18,250 | +$13,250 |
| 4 | Stanley Tang | $92,200 | +$42,200 |
| 5 | Xuan Liu | $102,850 | +$42,850 |
| 6 | Ethan “Rampage” Yau | $99,900 | -$103,050 |
| 7 | Charlie Hook | $48,900 | -$1,100 |
The game was played with $25/$50 blinds with a $50 big blind ante. Here’s a look at some of the biggest hands from the episode.
Tang Sets a Trap
Ethan “Rampage” Yau raised to $600 from the cutoff with the K♠3♠, and Charlie Hook called from the button with the 8♦7♥. Action folded to Stanley Tang, who had straddled to $200, and he called $400 with the 10♥9♣ to make it three-way action to a flop of K♣J♦7♣.
Tang checked his double-gutter straight draw, and Rampage continued for $1,200 with top pair. Hook called with bottom pair, and then Tang woke up with a check-raise to $6,000. Rampage called, Hook folded, and the Q♥ turn gave Tang the straight.
He bet $11,000, Rampage called, and the K♥ paired the board on the river. Tang checked his straight, and Rampage, who improved to trips, bet $25,000. Tang opted to just call and took down a pot worth $87,225.
The Ladies Love Hellmuth
Dan “Jungleman” Cates raised to $600 from the cutoff holding the 2♦2♣, and Hellmuth just called from the small blind with the Q♦Q♣. Xuan Liu came along from the first straddle with the 7♥3♥, Rampage did the same from the second straddle with the 10♣3♣, and it was four-way action to a flop of 4♥4♠8♦.
Hellmuth and Xuan both checked, Rampage just folded, and Cates continued for $600. Again, Hellmuth just called, and Xuan took a stab at it with a check-raise to $2,000. Both Cates and Hellmuth called before the latter checked in the dark headed to the 3♠ turn.
Xuan paired up but checked to Cates, who bet $4,000. Hellmuth quickly called and checked in the dark again after Xuan folded. Cates shut it down on the 8♣ river by checking it behind, and Hellmuth won a pot worth $16,500.
Action Flop
With some straddles on, action folded to Tang in the big blind, and he raised to $2,000 with the A♣9♣. Hook, who was in the $400 straddle, called with the A♦7♥, and it was heads-up action to a flop of 9♠A♠9♦.
Tang flopped the joint and bet $2,000, which Hook called with two pair. Tang then checked his full house on the 5♥ turn, and Hook checked behind. Tang coyly checked again on the 3♥ river, and Hook went for value by betting $1,000. Tang then woke up with a check-raise to $10,000.
“Oh, I left myself open for that,” Hook lamented before tossing in a call only to see the $28,375 pot pushed to Tang.
Completely Buried
Kelly Lucas raised to $300 from early position with the 7♠7♦, and Tang called from the cutoff with the A♦4♣. Rampage then three-bet to $1,500 from the small blind with the J♣8♣, and action folded back to Kelly, who called. Tang did the same, and it was three-way action to the flop of 7♣A♥10♣, which gave everyone a piece.
Rampage bet $2,000 with his straight flush draw; Kelly just called with her set, and Tang came along with top pair. The J♦ turn paired Rampage, who still had a big draw, and he bet $10,000. Kelly moved all in for $21,225, Tang folded, and Rampage called, opting to run it just once given he was “completely buried.”
Kelly agreed and claimed the $53,150 pot after the 2♦ completed the board on the river.
Final Hand
In the final hand of the episode, Hellmuth just limped for $100 with the K♣Q♣ and Jungleman called out of the big blind with the A♦8♥. Kelly checked her option from the straddle with the A♦8♥, and the flop came down 5♥10♦K♥.
Cates checked, as did Kelly, and Hellmuth bet $200 with top pair. Cates called with not much of anything, Kelly folded, and the 8♣ appeared on the turn. Cates turned an up-and-down straight draw and checked to Hellmuth, who bet $700.
Cates check-raised to $2,200, Hellmuth three-bet to $4,400, and the former called to see the J♥, which gave him the straight. Jungleman led out for $6,000, and Hellmuth called only to see the $21,575 pushed to his laughing opponent.
“Sorry, Phil, I can’t help it,” Cates chuckled.
