Is this the Tightest Player of the Year Race in Poker History? | MSPT Podcast Episode 9
The Major Series of Poker: The Tour (MSPT) has joined forces with PokerNews for a biweekly podcast, which is available in both audio and video formats.
In the ninth episode, Chad Holloway and Kyna England are back to recap the latest MSPT stop, which took place at Ameristar East Chicago. MSPT Hall of Famer Aaron Johnson took that one down for his second title, and first since 2019, while Jacob Long claimed an astonishing four side event titles. That, combined with a deep run in the Main Event, gave him enough points to take a slight lead over Umut Ozturk heading into the final stop of Season 16.
The POY race is going to come down to the wire, but with 18 Gold Card events being held at the Winter Poker Classic at Minnesota's Running Aces, both Long and Ozturk have a chance. For the latter, it would mean an unprecedented third MSPT POY win in a row (AKA "The Ozturkey" as Long called it). Speaking of Long, he joined the show to talk about his four side event wins, which give him a MSPT-high six Gold Card wins, and what it is like to hold the POY lead heading into the weekend.
