Aleksandr Shevlyakov is a Russian poker player best known for winning the 2025 PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Monte-Carlo Main Event for €1 million in May 2025.
Shevlyakov had several impressive results to his name before his EPT Monte-Carlo victory, including a runner-up finish at the 2023 EPT Paris €10,300 High Roller for €505,800, and a seventh-place finish in the same event at the 2023 EPT Barcelona stop for €142,300.
Shevlyakov was involved in controversy during the 2025 EPT Monte-Carlo Main Event, wherehe was accused of angle shooting. The hand saw Jamil Wakil open to 270,000 from under-the-gun during the 120,000 big blind level, and the action folded to Shevlyakov in the small blind. Shevliakov three-bet to 360,000, which was not enough for a legal raise. The floor ruled Shevlyakov had to raise to 420,000, which he did. Wakil, who has 3.6 million behind, now had to decide whether to fold, call, or move all-in. He opted for the latter and ultimately lost to Shevlyakov's suited ace-king.
As Wakil left the tournament area, he spoke to fellow finalist Boris Angelov, who suggested Shevlyakov had made a similar move earlier in the tournament. Shevlyakov denied angle shooting.
Controversy aside, Shevlyakov played excellent poker throughout the final table and emerged a worthy champion.
