A champion will be crowned today at the five-star Intercontinental Bucharest, as the 2019 888poker LIVE Bucharest Festival in cooperation with Pokerfest Romania draws to a conclusion. Only 12 players out of a 505-entry strong field remain to battle for the title, trophy, and top prize of €75,000 in the €888 Main Event.

On top of that, the winner can look forward to a free trip to the Mekka of poker in Las Vegas, as WSOP sponsor 888poker is providing a 2019 WSOP Main Event package worth $12,600 to the eventual champion.

In prime position to lift the trophy are Zhiping Zeng (3,320,000) and Darius Neagoe (3,075,000), who hold a commanding lead over the remaining contenders. All the other 10 hopefuls hold fewer than 20 big blinds each when the action resumes at 1.15 p.m. local time with level 27 and blinds of 30,000/60,000 with a 60,000 big blind ante.

That includes Bogdan Nicolae (1,190,000), Cristian Matei (1,110,000), Aldo Monteleone (1,095,000), Mihai Gheonu (1,020,000), Nicolae Suciu (1,000,000), Derek Reid (825,000), Ran Shahar (710,000), Jose Manuel Planells Castillo (670,000), Raoul Iancovici (625,000), and Helder Ferreira (500,000). Several of the shorter stacks were all in and at risk just shy of bagging and tagging last night, but a dozen will return to their seats in order to play down a champion in the Romanian capital.

The tournament continues with the popular big blind ante and 30-second shot clock, and it is anybody's game to take home the coveted 888poker LIVE trophy. While the level duration remains at 40 minutes at the start of the final day, it will increase to 60 minutes each once the final table has been determined.

Besides the €888 Main Event, the €1,700 High Roller will also determine a champion today as well. Defending champion and 888poker ambassador Ana Marquez is among the 22 players out of 28 entries that survived the first eight levels on Day 1 and Johan Guilbert tops the overnight counts.

Fellow ambassadors Martin Jacobson and Chris Moorman also bagged up chips, and Sofia Lovgren may join again. The late registration remains open for the first two levels and the High Roller action kicks off at 2 p.m. local time.

The PokerNews team will be on the floor to provide updates for the €888 Main Event until the conclusion, and a live stream with hole cards displayed on a 30-minute delay will also be available on the 888poker social media channels.

In a battle of the blinds, Jose Manuel Planells Castillo pushed for 660,000 and Bogdan Nicolae made the call.

Bogdan Nicolae: {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

The board came {j-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades}{q-Hearts} and Nicolae spiked the queen on the river to eliminate Planells Castillo in 12th place for €5,070.

Almost at the same time as Jose Manuel Planells Castillo, Raoul Iancovici ended up all in from the button for around 700,000 on the other table and Darius Neagoe quickly called in the big blind.

Raoul Iancovici: {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Darius Neagoe: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

The {a-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{a-Hearts} board ended Iancovici's run, and since he had used a time bank before making his decision, the showdown ended later to see Iancovici out in 11th place for €5,900.

Cristian Matei moved all in for 575,000 in the small blind and Bogdan Nicolae in the big blind asked for a count, reluctantly called without using a time bank.

Cristian Matei: {a-Hearts}{5-Clubs}
Bogdan Nicolae: {a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}

The minor kicker advantage played a crucial role as the board came {k-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{10-Spades} to eliminate Matei in 10th place for €5,900. All remaining nine players will now be on a short break to set up the unofficial nine-handed final table.

Just after the blinds went up, Derek Reid was in the big blind with the full big blind ante and had 265,000 behind. Mihai Gheonu raised in the cutoff and Reid called all in.

Derek Reid: {8-Spades}{6-Spades}
Mihai Gheonu: {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}

The {q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop left Reid in desperate shape and it was all over after the {7-Diamonds} turn, the {4-Diamonds} river a formality. Reid earns €8,800 for his efforts and the field has been reduced to the final seven.

Darius Neagoe raised to 240,000 with the {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and Ran Shahar defended the big blind with the {j-Spades}{10-Hearts} to see the {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{6-Spades} flop. Shahar moved all in for 925,000 and Neagoe double-checked his cards, gave it some thought and called with his top pair by using one time bank extension.

The {10-Spades} turn gave Shahar even further outs, but bricked off with the {q-Hearts} river to finish in 7th place for €12,400.

In the first hand back from the break, Nicolae Suciu jammed for 1,200,000 on the button and Darius Neagoe reshoved in the small blind.

Nicolae Suciu: {a-Spades}{2-Hearts}
Darius Neagoe: {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

After the bad news preflop, the {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop made things worse for Suciu, and it was all over after the {9-Clubs} turn. A meaningless {q-Diamonds} came on the river and Suciu was eliminated in 6th place for €16,550.

Helder Ferreira moved all in for 910,000 on the button and Bogdan Nicolae eventually called in the big blind, then nodded when he was shown the superior pocket pair.

Helder Ferreira: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Bogdan Nicolae: {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}

The {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop changed nothing much, but Nicolae spiked the {6-Diamonds} turn to leave in trouble. A meaningless {3-Spades} hit on the river and the Portuguese had to settle for 5th place and a payday of €21,070. Late on Day 2, Ferreira had been down to just two big blinds and still made it all the way to the final table.

Bogdan Nicolae jammed the button for 2.1 million and Mihai Gheonu called from the big blind for the last 1.4 million.

Mihai Gheonu: {a-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}
Bogdan Nicolae: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

The {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop brought no help, but the {7-Clubs} turn gave Gheonu a gutshot. It wasn't meant to be, as the {q-Spades} river further improved Nicolae to a full house. Ghenou was ousted in 4th place and receives €26,900 for his efforts.
