Welcome to Day 1a of the 2019 888poker LIVE London £1,100 Main Event

James Williams Wins the £1,100 Main Event in London
James Williams Wins the £1,100 Main Event in London

The 888poker LIVE series returns to the place where it all started back in January 2015 at the Aspers Casino in Westfield Stratford London. Terry Jordon was the first 888poker LIVE Local London champion after taking down the inaugural £220 Main Event when he came out on top of a field of 609 entries, defeating local legend Ali Zihni in heads-up.

Since then, 888poker LIVE has returned to the Aspers Casino for the flagship festival and the Local Series every year and previous London Main Event champions include Ka Li in 2016, Tom Hall in 2017 and James Williams in 2018. Williams came out on top of a field of 656 entries and defeated Derek Lawless to claim the lion's share of the £649,440 prize pool, taking home £121,000 and a package for the 2019 WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas.

The fourth edition of the 888poker LIVE £1,100 Main Event in London comes with a guaranteed prize pool of £500,000 and the package for the 2020 WSOP Main Event worth $12,500. Several 888poker ambassadors such as Sofia Lovgren, Vivian Saliba, Martin Jacobson, Chris Moorman, Kara Scott, and Ana Marquez will be taking part in the festival.

There are five starting days in total and all of them play 11 levels on their respective flight. The first four starting days feature levels of 40 minutes each while the turbo heat 1e is the only one with a level duration of 20 minutes. As of Day 2, the blind levels increase to 60 minutes each until the conclusion of the tournament.

Ersoy Chips Up

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

Gary Miller opened the action with a raise to 300 and picked up three callers including Serkan Ersoy, Tom Hall and the bi blind. The action checked to Ersoy on the {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop and he bet 800, only the big blind came along. A second barrel of Ersoy on the {5-Diamonds} turn for 1,600 did the trick to shut down all further action.

Navarro Carral Jams Up Stack

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante
Juan Pablo Navarro Carral
Juan Pablo Navarro Carral

The floor was called to table three as a player in three-handed action had called out of turn with Juan Pablo Navarro Carral still to act. Ultimately, that created a pot of 20,000 to the {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{8-Hearts}{10-Spades} river and Navarro Carral moved all in for 19,600 with one opponent behind.

No call followed as the opponent mucked the {a-Spades} face up and Navarro Carral raked in the pot.

More for Gloor

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

With some 21,000 in the middle and the completed board showing {a-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, Lukas Gloor used a time bank extension and then bet 4,300. His sole remaining opponent on the button called and Gloor rolled over {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for the nut flush in order to claim a big pot.
