Popular British live poker player and online poker streamer Ian Simpson has officially been confirmed as the newest brand ambassador for 888poker. This has been revealed by the operator and the player itself, who has been attending the series at Casino Barcelona and bagged up chips on Day 1a of the €1,100 Main Event.

"I can finally reveal that I’m now an ambassador for 888poker!

I was thrilled when 888 showed an interest in me. I’m gradually getting to know their poker team and it’s invigorating to get to work with people who are simultaneously kind and hard working.

I’ve had the privilege of attending a number of their tremendous live events now, which I will continue to do so in my partnership with them.

In addition I’ll be getting back to streaming on twitch.tv/iansimpsonpoker. We’ve got some exciting ideas for collaboration with their growing stream team, so keep an eye out for the content we’ll be making."

Simpson joined the spotlight in the English-speaking poker community when he won the 2013 Irish Open Main Event for €265,000 and then proposed to his then partner and now wife Emma on the live stream table. Since then, the Newcastle based poker pro has racked up more than $1 million in live poker cashes and represented Unibet Poker throughout the last few years.

On top of the activities on the live poker scene, he has also been streaming his action in the virtual arena regularly and especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Two members of the 888poker Stream Team will be among the 13 returning players in the Mega Knockout Side Event. Initially slated to be a one-day tournament, the €165 buy-in attracted a field of 294 entries for a €44,100 prize pool and the last 13 contenders bagged up for the night. They will be back at 4pm local time to play for the biggest slice of the cash pool along with €50 bounties for each opponent they send to the rail.

Local player Carlos Avila Ortega leads the way with a stack of 930,000 but hot on his heels is David Gibson with a stack of 830,000. The second Stream Member in contention is Jordan Banfield, who has a healthy stack of 595,000 and sits in seventh place for the restart.
