Jaspreet Panchhi

A huge last-level double for Jaspreet Panchhi means that he is the clear chip leader ahead of the final table of the 888poker LIVE London High Stakes Series Main Event.

His pocket jacks held against pocket tens to soar above 400,000, eventually bagging 558,000 for the overall chip lead. He leads Jack Hardcastle (358,000) and Shah Athar (196,000) who went from short stack on the bubble to third in chips at the nine-handed final table.

Also making the final table is Grosvenor Poker National Poker League champion Euan McNicholas and former WSOP Main Event final tablist Eoghan O'Dea.

Day 2 Recap

A total of 29 survivors were joined by five new entries including Dominik Nitsche and Kenny Hallaert, although neither were able to survive past the first level of the day.

Start-of-day chip leader Alberto Speranzoni still held the chip lead as the last remaining 888poker Qualifier Alexandru Tornea hit the rail. He was soon joined by notables Bhavin Khatri and Nick Marchington.

With just ten places paid, the final two tables were a cagey affair. Former chip leader Speranzoni was eliminated, as Harry Law took over the chip lead. That was quickly taken by Matthew Skeadas, but Jaspreet Panchhi scored a pivotal double to stay alive and move into the lead.

The bubble burst with the elimination of Oscar Kirby, who ran king-jack into the ace-king of Euan McNicholas, and there was still time for Charlie Carrel's elimination, his tenth-place netting him a min-cash of £4,700.

The final nine will return to the Victoria Grosvenor Casino on Sunday, May 1 to play down to a winner.

They checked the {2-Hearts} turn and the {9-Hearts} completed the board.

McNicholas checked and Carrel finally put out a bet of 13,000. McNicholas folded.

Alberto Speranzoni
Alberto Speranzoni

Alberto Speranzoni just sent Yudhishter Jaswal to the rail in a massive hand that saw him move above 200,000 in chips.

Speranzoni defended his big blind from a Jaswal opened, and check-called 2,500 on a {q-}{7-}{2-} flop.

The turn was a {j-} and Speranzoni check-called 9,000.

The {j-} river paired the board and Speranzoni checked again. Jaswal bet 28,000 and Speranzoni shoved. Jaswal called for 18,000 more with {k-}{k-} but Speranzoni had that beat with {a-}{j-} for trip jacks.

Also sent to the rail recently was Mauricio Pais.
