Sprinkled within the 74 players returning for Day 2 of the €888 888poker LIVE Bucharest Main Event at 5:30 p.m. local time are three players flying the banner for 888poker.

Ian Simpson flew in overnight to Bucharest, took his seat in this tournament, and proceeded to build up a stack of 312,000 heading into Day 2. Fellow 888poker Ambassador Lucia Navarro takes 106,000 into the event’s penultimate day, while Stream Team member Ricardo Freire Mateus has 124,000.

They and the rest of the field are chasing Nicolae Balea, who flirted with 800,000 at one point yesterday before ending up with 663,000. Marius Gicovanu (582,000), Alexandru Marcu (486,000), Andrii Zaika (449,500), and Nicolae Bordianu (432,000) round out the top five.

The 74 survivors from the first three opening flights are all that are left from a field that drew 182 total entries. They’ll be joined by players from a turbo Day 1d flight that began at 11 a.m., as well as any new arrivals with late registration remaining open until the start of Day 2. The structure remains the same from the Day 1 flights, with 11 45-minute levels. Blinds pick up on level 12 at 2,000-4,000 and a 4,000 big blind ante.

The money bubble and final table await the remaining players, and PokerNews will be on hand providing live updates from the Poker Room Bucharest in the heart of the Romanian capital.

Ciursin Doubles Right Away

Level 12 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Ivan Ciursin registered at the start of Day 2 and already found a double up at the expense of Rares Alexandu Indrei.

In a blind versus blind confrontation, Indrei bet 25,000 on a board of 2710K and Ciursin called.

The river came the J and Indrei tossed in four orange 25,000 chips, enough to put Ciursin all in. Ciursin snap-called for his last 38,000.

Ciursin turned over AQ for the running straight and Indrei flashed 10x2x for two pair on the flop before he mucked.

Tudorel Takes Out Manole

Level 12 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Costache Tudorel raised to 8,000 from early position and was called by two players, including Fiderico Costa in the cutoff, before Mihai Manole moved all in on the button for 48,000.

Tudorel quickly called, as did Costa. The flop came 8J10 and Tudorel bet enough to put Costa all in for his last 40,000, and he snap-folded.

Mihai Manole: AQ
Costache Tudorel: 109

Tudorel had outflopped Manole with a pair of tens, and Manole found no help on the 2 turn or 8 to see his tournament come to an end.

Rafael Granados Gancedo and Toni Ravnak have also been early casualties on Day 2.

Zor Has Bordianu Dominated

Level 12 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Nicolae Bordianu raised to 8,000 from early position before Emil Zor, in the hijack, moved all in for 106,000. Bordianu gave it some thought but ultimately decided to commit the chips.

Emil Zor: AK
Nicolae Bordianu: AJ

Both players hit the AQ10 flop, but Zor's king-kicker kept him in the lead. The board ran out Q9 and Zor doubled up.

"Nice," Bordianu told him after the hand.

At the same table, Andrii Zaika came into Day 2 as one of the biggest stacks and hasn't stopped accumulating chips and he's currently sitting on around 660,000.
