The 888poker LIVE Coventry double-header is off to a flying start, with the £560 UK Poker League (UKPL) Main Event crowning its champion over the weekend. The total of 224 entries created a £106,390 prize pool, with Jamie Morris coming out on top, capturing £19,831 after a three-way deal, the largest score of his career to date.
Thirty-five of the entrants saw a return on their investment. National Poker League (NPL) Player of the Year contenders Calogero Morreale and Callum Gordon were among the first to cash. 888poker ambassador Nick Eastwood, Tom Bacon, two-time GUKPT champion Christopher Johnson, Mitch Johnson, and final table bubble boy Yucel "Mad Turk" Eminoglu also padded their bankrolls.
Right after serving a one-round penalty, action folded to Anthony Kennedy in the small blind. Kennedy moved all in and was quickly at risk when Yucel Eminoglu called in the big blind.
"What can I do?" asked Eminoglu as he turned over his cards.
Anthony Kennedy: 10♣5♦
Yucel Eminoglu: A♥A♦
Kennedy found some help on the 8♥10♥8♠ flop, while the 9♦ turn left Eminoglu in front. The dealer then revealed the 8♣ river, giving Eminoglu and full house and sending Kennedy to the rail.
Paul Trotter opened in middle position before Stephen Mckay three-bet to 10,000 in the small blind. Trotter then moved all in and was quickly called.
Stephen Mckay: Q♣Q♦
Paul Trotter: J♣J♦
Mckay was looking to dodge a jack, but the 10♦8♦J♦ saw Trotter take the lead. The rest of the 8♣K♠ runout was no help, as Trotter saw his queens come up second best to hit the rail.
Fan Longmao was all in and at risk against Ben Miller on his right.
Fan Longmao: A♥Q♥
Ben Miller: A♦6♦
Miller was in bad shape until the 8♥6♣2♦ flop delivered a pair of sixes. Longmao was unable to improve on the 5♣ turn or 8♣ river, ending his run as Miller raked in the pot.

Alicia Richardson opened to 2,500 from under the gun before Francois Tosques slid out a three-bet in middle position. James Parker called in the big blind, with Richardson coming along to the 8♥2♣3♦ flop.
Action checked to Tosques, who bet 6,000. Parker called and Richardson got out of the way.
Parker then moved all in on the 5♣ turn and Tosques made the call.
James Parker: A♦4♦
Francois Tosques: K♠K♥
The J♠ river changed nothing, as Parker earned the double up with a wheel to defeat Tosques' pocket kings.
