Race to the Final Table Begins on Day 2 of the 888poker Live Glasgow Main Event

Maogen Fu
Maogen Fu

Players all have one common goal on Day 2 of the 888poker Live Glasgow Main Event: make it to the final table.

That journey begins at 5 p.m. local time inside the Grosvenor Casino Merchant City as the 63 players who made it through the first five starting flights return to battle for a spot on the main feature stage. They are led by Francisco Salvador, who built up a massive chip lead with 508,500 yesterday.

Ian Simpson is making another run at his second consecutive 888poker Live title as he begins the day in second place with 390,000. Maogen Fu (376,000), already with two titles in the past few days, is in third, while 888poker Live Manchester champion Stephen Barnes (365,000) and Dean Lyall (289,500) round out the top five.

Further down the leaderboard are 2024 Madrid champion Manuel Ledesma (56,500) and Jack Hardcastle (46,000). Vivian Saliba (169,500) and Josh Manley (105,000) join Simpson in representing the 888poker team on Day 2.

The action picks up on Level 15 with blinds of 1,500-3,000 and a 3,000 big blind ante. Levels are once again 40 minutes long, with a break after every three levels.

The first five starting flights have built a field of 324 entries so far. There is still the turbo Day 1f flight that began at 11 a.m., while late registration remains open until the start of Day 2. The prize pool has already surpassed the £250,000 guarantee and will be announced shortly after play begins.

Stay tuned to PokerNews throughout the day as the field goes past the money bubble and on towards the final table.

Huang Scores a Double Knockout; Davenport Busts Another

Level 15 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Three-Way All In
Three-Way All In

Adam Wilkinson was all in for 60,000 from under the gun, Thomas Hall put his last 40,000 in from early position, and small blind Zexuan Huang called to put both players at risk.

Adam Wilkinson: 99 All in

Hall and Wilkinson saw the bad news when they turned over the same hand, leaving them with scant hope against Huang's jacks. The board ran out 62K3Q and Huang improved to a flush to send both opponents to the rail.

"Why did he have to have a club?" Wilkinson lamented.

At the same time at another table, Cameron Williamson moved all in for 18,000 in early position and Matthew Davenport called under the gun.

Cameron Williamson: AQ All in
Matthew Davenport: 99

It was a race situation, and Davenport's nines stayed in the lead through the K6732 to earn him another knockout.

"I'm going home. Too much poker this week," Williamson, who finished second to Maogen Fu in the High Roller, said on his way to the exit.

Joe Dixon
Joe Dixon

Joe Dixon raised to 8,000 in middle position, Ian Simpson moved all in from the small blind, and Dixon snap-called for 119,500.

Joe Dixon: AK All in
Ian Simpson: 22

It was a big flip for Dixon's tournament life, and he picked up additional outs on the 977 flop. The 9 turn gave him two pair and counterfeited Simpson's deuces.

"Ah. Deuce," Simpson pleaded, but the dealer instead turned over the 5 on the river and Dixon doubled up.

With around 60,000 in the pot on a board of 424A, Michael Kane bet 30,000 from middle positon and Maogen Fu called in the hijack.

The river was the 5 and Kane bet 87,000, leaving himself just a few chips behind. Fu tanked for more than a minute until eventually calling as Kane showed 109 for a bluff.

Fu turned over 1010 as he took the pot, leaving Kane on an extreme short stack.
