Caue Moura Leads a Large 888poker Team Into Day 2

Caue Moura
Caue Moura

After two starting flights of the €1,100 888poker Live Madrid 20th Anniversary Edition, 169 players will be returning to the felt for the start of Day 2. There was a large contingent of 888poker team members at this event and Caue Moura will be paving the way for them with a stack of 216,500 chips.

A total of 264 entries have been recorded thus far and that number will continue to grow with late registration open for an additional four levels on Day 2. Many of the 888poker ambassadors jumped in the field on Day 1b and it was Moura who came out on top. He will be joined by the likes of Chris Eubank Jr (158,000), Alexandre Mantovani (80,500), and Ian Simpson (66,500). As for the women on the team, Kara Scott, Vivian Saliba, and newest member Lucia Navarro Martinez will have to use a second bullet today if they want to keep their chances alive.

They will all be looking to chase down overall chip leader Mikel Gurrea who finished Day 1b with a whopping 420,000 chips. Gurrea is a local Spanish poker circuit regular and has plenty of experience when it comes to fighting for the chip lead. Some other notables to keep an eye on as the day unfolds include Alex Romero (288,000), and David Lappin (182,500).

The action is slated to get underway at 4 p.m. local time with the blinds resuming on level 10 at 1,000/2,000 and a 2,000 big blind ante. The levels will continue to be 45 minutes in length throughout the day with a 20-minute break after every three levels. There will also be a 60-minute dinner break after the sixth level of the day. Late registration will remain open until the end of level 13, giving plenty of opportunity for those looking to re-enter.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be back on the tournament floor to bring you all of the live updates as the action unfolds and the tournament works its way to the final table tomorrow.

Picking up the action on the turn with the board reading {k-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, the action was on Jose Ferrera who threw in a bet of 8,500. Josh Manley called and the {6-Clubs} completed the board.

Manley checked again and Ferrera moved all in, putting Manley to the test for his remaining 26,500 chips. After spending some time in the tank, Manley eventually called it off. Ferrera showed {q-Spades}{9-Spades} for just a pair of nines while Manley held {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts} for a pair of kings.

Bad River Kills Mateus' Action

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Ricardo Mateus raised it up from the hijack and was called by Miguel Franco in the small blind. The flop came {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and Franco check-called a bet of 4,000 from Mateus.

The {5-Hearts} landed on the turn and Franco checked again. Mateus tossed in a bet of 15,000 and Franco stuck around to see the {8-Clubs} on the river. With four cards to a straight flush on the board, the action halted as both players checked. Franco showed {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for a pair of jacks but Mateus had him beat with {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for a set of nines.
