"james12627" from Honduras Leads Way into Final Table of the Main Event

The final table of the 2022 888Poker Millions Superstorm Main Event is now set with "james12627" from Honduras sitting at the head of that table as the only player with more than two million chips. The tournament came within a hair of hitting the $1 million guarantee with 999 total entries over all the Day 1 flights. A total of 166 players found a bag at the end of one of the Day 1s, and they came back today to play for 117 paid spots.

"james12627" ended the Day 2 fray with 2,011,301, the only player in the field to cap the two million barrier. "ddaubar" from Lithuania, who has more than $500,000 in online wins according to PocketFives, isn't far behind with just under 1.8 million chips and German player "Streusalz" bagged the third biggest stack with about 1.3 million.

Among the other notable final table players are "wellyxx" who has more than $11 million in online wins, as well as Canadians "DosPoochies" and Sebastian "p000cket000" Sikorski.

Day in Review

Day 2 took about 3.5 hours to finish up after getting underway at 16:30 ET with 116 entries to start. That was whittled down from the 999 total entries across all the Day 1s, made up from 913 entries and 86 rebuys. With $1 million guaranteed, they were as close as they could possibly be to the guarantee without actually hitting it.

They made it into the 117 paid spots shortly after the first break of the day, and things continued to move quickly from there. There were a few members of Team 888Poker on the virtual felt for Day 2 of the Main Event today, and three of them made it to the money, busting shortly after for small cashes.

While Sam "888samantha" Abernathy and Dominik "888Dominik" Nitsche both booked small cashes of $2,200 and $2,000 respectively, the biggest score for the team went to Dave "New_Dave" Gibson who finished 81st for a score of $2,500. For the stakes Gibson usually plays as the designated micro-stakes player on the 888poker Stream Team, it was a massive score.

None of the start-of-day chip leaders today figured in the end-of-day game. The best result came from "Philip967" of Belarus who finished in 40th place for $3,600, but all the top five from the start of the day at least managed to cash today.

There is still more than $600,000 to play for on the final table. Action picks up again at 14:00 on March 8 in Level 35 and blinds at 25,000/50,000 (6,250), but PokerNews coverage will be delayed an hour along with the cards-up live stream on 888pokerTV hosted by Nick Wealthall and David Tuchman.
