Time to Crown a Champion in Event #3 of 2022 888Poker Millions Superstorm

There are just nine players left in action today in Event #3 of the 2022 888Poker Millions Superstorm. The $250,000 guaranteed event kicked off last week with a series of Day 1 qualifying flights before 147 players out of a total of 973 entries reconvened on Sunday Feb 27 for Day 2 action.

Today's final table action kicks off at 2pm ET, with a cards-up stream from 888pokerTV covering all the action on delay. They'll start the day with a few minutes left in Level 33 with blinds at 17,500/35,000 (4,375) and play down to a winner before the day is done.

The player with the best chance of today's top prize of $45,250 is Brazilian "khalifaa00" who starts Day 3 with 1,873,510. "oldfandango" from the UK is also sitting pretty with just under 1.8 million chips. There are four other players with more than a million chips to start the day, but the short stack, Daniel "BadBeatMaker" Almeida, starts the day with about 6.5 big blinds, so he'll be looking for an early double.

There is still more than $160,000 on offer for players in the final nine today, and even the first player to bust will still walk away with $3,200. The average stack to start the day is about 31.5 big blinds, but two players are coming to the day with less than 10 bigs, so action could go quickly early on.

Level 34, Blinds: 20,000/40,000 (5,000)

Daniel "BadBeatMaker" Almeida started the final day with a small stack, and couldn't hold when he got his stack in against "Savachenko1".

Daniel "BadBeatMaker" Almeida: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
"Savachenko1": {k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

Almeida looked good to survive, but a ten on the flop and turn of {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} changed all that and sent him to the rail.

Level 38, Blinds: 40,000/80,000 (10,000)

"khalifaa00" came into the day with the biggest stack, but since then, it hasn't gone their way. They ended the day in 5th place after shoving more than 1 million over a button raise from "Maichidon7".

"khalifaa00": {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}
"Maichidon7": {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

The pocket pair couldn't stay ahead in the race when the board came {3-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Spades}{a-Clubs}{a-Spades}.

The board came {3-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and the pair held to send "oldfandango" to the rail.

"nolimitbud" Eliminated in 3rd Place ($24,375)

Level 38, Blinds: 40,000/80,000 (10,000)

"nolimitbud" laddered up from 3rd lowest stack to start the day, all the way to 3rd place for $24,375, but it ended in a gross spot. They shoved over a button raise from "Maichidon7" and found what looked to be a great spot.

"nolimitbud": {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
"Maichidon7": {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

"nolimitbud" had an over-pair and was 80% to double again, but an eight on the river of {j-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{8-Spades} sent them to the rail in brutal fashion.

"bigish" Eliminated in 2nd Place ($32,500)

Level 39, Blinds: 50,000/100,000 (12,500)

Heads-up play was very short, lasting just a couple of hands. "Maichidon7" came into the final stage with about a two to one lead, and it all came down to a hand where the money went in before the flop.

"Maichidon7" raised pre-flop, then called when "bigish" shoved.

"bigish": {a-Spades}{4-Clubs}
"Maichidon7": {j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

"bigish" was slightly ahead when the money went in, but after the {q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{4-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades} board, "Maichidon7" had all the chips with a pair of tens, and "bigish" was out in 2nd.
