The Ante Up Poker Tour Jamul Casino $550 Main Event has arrived! The first ever stop in Southern California for the AUPT rolls on today, as Day 1a of the Main Event begins at 4 p.m. at Jamul Casino, just outside of San Diego, CA.
The $550 Main Event is the centerpiece of the Sweetwater Series, an eight-tournament series that culminates in this $100,000 guaranteed event. The Day 1 flight will include 14 half-hour levels, with short breaks after Level 4, Level 8 and Level 11. Play will wrap up for the night after Level 14.
Players begin with 30,000 starting chips in this unlimited re-entry event. Late registration is available through the beginning of Level 9, and participants have the option of forfeiting and re-entering the tournament at the end of Level 8.
The blinds begin at 100/100, with a big blind ante kicking in at Level 2 (100/200/200). The tournament is structured for 30-minute levels through Level 18, and goes up to 40-minute levels after that. Play returns to the half-hour levels when the tournament gets to heads-up play.
The newly-opened Jamul Casino poker room is hosting the Ante Up Poker Tour for the first time, and so far the Sweetwater series has crowned champions in five different events. The $550 Main Event comes as Event #6.
Day 1a will play out today, and the second of two opening flights will commence Saturday, beginning at Noon. The surviving players from Day 1a and 1b will come back Sunday at Noon as a combined field for Day 2, which will see the tournament play down to a winner.

Day 1a of the $550 Main Event is underway.
On the very first hand of Day 1a, Aaron Knapp found himself on the wrong end of a bad beat administered by Mark Feinberg.
Feinberg opened to 400 on the button, and Knapp called from the big blind. The flop came out rainbow, and Knapp check-called a 600 bet from Feinberg.
The turn came , Knapp checked, and Feinberg bet again, this time for 1,100. Knapp raised to 3,000, Feinberg three-bet to 10,000, and Knapp four-bet all in for the rest of his 30,000 starting stack. Feinberg called.

Feinberg was in a bad spot with his top two dominated by the broadway straight of Knapp. The river was kind to Feinberg, however, as a came in for the full house, sending Knapp to the rail in the opening minutes of the tournament,

With 8,800 already in the pot, Tim Heredia put in a 12,500 overbet on the turn, with the board showing . Eric Bradford shoved for his remaining 27,200, and Heredia called.

Heredia was drawing dead to Bradford's full house, rendering the meaningless. Heredia left the tournament area, thinking he was busted, but was called bacl to the table as he actually had 500 chips left. A few hands later, however, Heredia was officially out.

The $550 Main Event at Jamul Casino may be the capstone tournament of the Ante Up Poker Tour stop, but it isn’t the only event that’s taken place. There have been a slew of side tournaments, and we thought we’d take a quick look at each.
For instance, in the Ante Up Sweetwater Series Event #1: $300 No-Limit Hold’em ($40K GTD), 158 runners created a $41,080 prize pool.
That was paid out to the top 20 players, and some of those to cash but fall short of the final table were Charles Fisher (10th - $965), Daniel Lujano (12th - $965), Mark Feinberg (15th - $832), Neil Rodvold (18th - $702), and Joung Kim (20th - $575).
The tournament ended in a four-way deal that saw Christopher Smith deemed the winner for $7,977.

John Alexander's stack is already more than double the starting stack, as Alexander was on the good end of two big pot that sealed the elimination of another player.
Alexander added another smaller pot to that total, in a hand that saw three players check on a flop. A player on the button bet 500 when checked to on the turn, and both the small blind, as well as Alexander on the big blind, called.
The river brought the , the small blind checked, and Alexander led out for 1,200. The button called, the small blind folded, and Alexander showed down to take down the pot.
