The Ante Up Poker Tour Jamul Casino $550 Main Event continues today, as the second of two Day 1 flights kicks off at noon. The first ever stop in Southern California for the AUPT rolls on with Day 1b, after a Day 1a flight that saw 57 total entries.
The $550 Main Event is the centerpiece of the Sweetwater Series, an eight-tournament series that culminates in this $100,000 guaranteed event. The Day 1b flight will include 14 half-hour levels, with short breaks after Level 4, Level 8 and Level 11. Play will wrap up for the night after Level 14.
Players begin with 30,000 starting chips in this unlimited re-entry event. Late registration is available through the beginning of Level 9, and participants have the option of forfeiting and re-entering the tournament at the end of Level 8.
The blinds begin at 100/100, with a big blind ante kicking in at Level 2 (100/200/200). The tournament is structured for 30-minute levels through Level 18, and goes up to 40-minute levels after that. Play returns to the half-hour levels when the tournament gets to heads-up play.
The newly-opened Jamul Casino poker room is hosting the Ante Up Poker Tour for the first time, and so far the Sweetwater series has crowned champions in five different events. The $550 Main Event comes as Event #6.
Day 1b will play out today, the surviving players from Day 1a and 1b will come back Sunday at Noon as a combined field for Day 2, which will see the tournament play down to a winner. A total of 12 players made it through the Day 1a field on a day of wild action and rapid eliminations.
