We had to look twice when we walked past a table and found a player with 60,000 in chips this early in the tournament.
Upon investigation we found out the player is a local by the name Gregory Wheeler.
We asked tablemate, and fellow local, Mile Krstanoski how Wheeler got his chips and he just stared at us blankly and said, "no idea"
"He hasn't shown down one hand, he just keeps winning pots," Krstanoski added.
"He's a wizard."
Wheeler doesn't have any results on his record, but if he keeps up his wizarding ways, that will change here on the ANZPT.

Reigning ANZ Player of the Year David Lim has recently scooped up some chips. He was up against one opponent on a board when it was checked to him. He bet 2,500 into a substantial pot and the player folded. Despite winning this pot, Lim is only on 14,000 off his starting stack of 20,000.

Affable local Tony Targlia is already sitting behind a stack of around 37,000.
We didn't catch the hand that sent Tartaglia's stack skyrocketing, but we asked him what happened and he responded thusly:
"I got it in good and he didn't catch a set," Tartaglia quipped.
Upon further elaboration, we found out Tartaglia got his stack in with against to scoop the massive pot.

The players are back from their break and cards are back in the air.
The antes have now kicked in and registration is closed.
We will have confirmation of today's number as soon as possible.
Edison Nguyen has been quite short stacked for much of the early stages of the day, but he recently managed to pick up some much needed chips when he shoved all in against one opponent on the river of a board. Nguyen's opponent opted to fold and Nguyen scooped the pot.
Nguyen still needs to do some work if he's going to add an ANZPT Perth title to his collection which includes the Melbourne title.

Perth local, WSOP bracelet winner Aaron Lim, has just found a double up.
Lim was down to around 5,000 when he got his stack in with on a jack-high flop. His lone unlucky opponent called with and with a board run out, it was a double up for Lim.
