It's been a great start for Didier Guerin, not only here on Day 1a of the ANZPT Perth Main Event, but also after a recent runner-up finish in the $1,100 Six-Max side event earlier this evening.
Guerin recently told us how he managed to move his stack over 60,000 not long after he sat at the tables.
Apparently Guerin opened to 500 and got called in two spots, including the small blind.
On the flop, It was checked to Guerin who bet 1,400. The next player to act popped it to 4,000 and the small blind flat-called. Guerin then made it 11,000 to go, having started the hand with 22,000. The previous agressor called, while the small blind moved all in for a little less than Guerin's stack. Guerin then moved all in and the next player called, putting Guerin at risk.
Guerin had for the nut straight and was up against for two pair and for top pair, the nut flush draw, and gut-shot Broadway draw.
Guerin managed to fade the turn and river and tripled his stack.
We recently arrived to Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang's table to find him and Mishel Anunu on the river of a board. Huang was in the big blind position and led out for 2,950 here. Anunu made the call and Huang quickly tabled for the rivered wheel. Anunu turned over his for top pair and for a moment seemed to not realise Huang had hit the straight. Regardless, his cards went into the muck and the pot went to Anunu.
We didn't see how the chips went in, but Chew confirmed that he got aggressive preflop with from the button, with a stack of just over 13,000, and ran into the of the player in the small blind.
The board was good for Chew and so he moved back over starting stack.
Local player Mile Krstanoski found himself quite short stacked recently, but then managed a handle triple up.
We arrived at the hand in question with a flop already on the felt. This is when Krstanoski got his short stack in against two opponents, including Anthony Legg.
Krstanoski watched on as Legg put the other player to the test on the turn. The player called off his stack and the cards were turned over.
It was Krstanoski out in front with , while Legg had and was looking good for the side pot and to send one player home.
The board completed with a and the main pot went to Krstanoski, while Legg scooped the side pot and sent a player home.
