The final Day 1 flight on the first stop of Season 7 of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour is all over.
There were 93 total entrants on Day 1b of ANZPT Perth, which added with Day 1a meant the total field weighed in at 192 players. That created a prize pool of $393,600 with the top 21 to share in the spoils and the eventual champ to pocket $105,000.
The player from Day 1b to put himself in the best position to make a run at that top prize was Stephen Chidwick. The prominent pro from the UK finished up with 76,350 in chips, which was just ahead of Jack Ferrari with 76,075.
Chidwick and Ferrari were amongst the 51 total survivors from Day 1b and both will fancy their chances heading into Friday’s Day 2. Chidwick is fresh off a solid Aussie Millions that saw him finish fourth in the $25,000 Challenge for a score of more than US$200,000.
Some of the others who survived Day 1b include Tamara Volkoff (72,850), Stev Lackovic (61,100), Henry Szmelcer (52,175), Jack Salter (49,625), Michael Guzzardi (36,125) and Mustapha Kanit (24,425). Full end-of-day chip counts can be found below in the live reporting blog.
The survivors from Day 1b will now join with those from Day 1a from 12:30pm local time tomorrow (Friday). There will be 105 total players to kick off the action and only a portion of those will make it through to Day 3. Be sure to return to PokerNews for continued coverage of the ANZPT Perth Main Event.
