Time for Day 2 of the Massive 2014 ANZPT Melbourne

Chip leader, Vincent Chua
Chip leader, Vincent Chua

Welcome back to the Crown Casino! We are here for Day 2 of the 2014 ANZPT Melbourne Main Event. The dust has settled on two huge Day 1 flights and now the record-breaking 516-player starting field is down to 179.

Leading the way, with the only stack above 200,000 in chips, is Vincent Chua. A big Day 1b saw Chua amass a stack of 210,100. Chua will begin the day well ahead of Day 1b’s Shy Jachimowicz with 177,300. Both Chua and Jachimowic finished with more than the Day 1a chip leader Anthony Legg, who will take 160,200 into Day 2.

There are dozens of notable players with plenty of chips including players from Day 1b like Fabian Craib (129,500), Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang (123,800), Luke Edwards (115,300), along with Day 1a players Daniel Botta (134,100), Dean Francis (119,700), Tristan Bain (110,800), 2011 APPT Melbourne runner-up Phillip Willcocks (110,000) and Adrian Attenborough (99,600).

Some of the other still alive and kicking include Matthew Rolfe (99,200), Steven Zhou (98,800), 2005 World Series of Poker Main Event champ Joe Hachem (93,800), Anthony Aston (76,900), Luke Sharpe (71,900), Jazz Mathers (67,500), Matt Wakeman (50,300), Jackie Glazier (36,000), and Liam O’Rourke (30,000), just to name a few!

All of the returning players are hoping to keep their chance of claiming a piece of the $1,032,000 prize pool alive. It's the top 63 players who will finish in the cash, which is likely to be reached sometime in the early stages of Day 2. At this point it looks the plan is to play nine 60-minute levels on Day 2 and then return to finish it off on Day 3 with around four tables.

Be sure to stay tuned to all the live updates from 12:30 p.m. local time as we start moving towards the business end of the action!
