A New Player Claims the Mantle of "Chip Leader"

Meet Junghyun Choi, the new chip leader of Day 1c. He raised to 1,150 from under the gun and was called by both players in the blinds. The three players took a ragged flop of {3-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {3-Spades}. It brought a bet of 2,000 from the big blind -- a bet that only Choi called.

The turn was the {9-Spades}. Again the big blind bet 2,000, but this time Choi raised to 8,000. That was enough to produce a fold and a winner. With that pot, Choi climbed to 58,000 in chips.

The Master Eliminates Another

Adam Schwartz Eliminated
Adam Schwartz Eliminated
Adam Schwartz has been eliminated after getting his last chips involved in a preflop clash with Men "The Master" Nguyen.

Schwartz held the best hand with his {A-Diamonds}{9-Spades} but Nguyen held live cards with his {J-Spades}{10-Spades}. The flop fell {J-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} giving Nguyen the lead but Schwartz had picked up a flush draw. The {J-Hearts} hit the turn to give Nguyen trips and the {K-Spades} on the river improved him to a full house to end the day for Schwartz.

Nguyen is now up to 39,000 and looking dangerous.

Quinn Do Can Do

In order to go deep in a no-limit hold'em tournament, it's said, you have to win your share of races. Quinn Do just won a race with {A-Spades} {Q-Spades} against {J-Clubs} {J-Hearts} by flopping top pair {Q-Clubs} {10-Spades} {3-Spades} and finishing with a flush when the board completed {3-Clubs} and {4-Spades}. That pot propelled Do's stack to about 53,000.

Frankly, I Like The River

Frank Bianco
Frank Bianco
Frank Bianco called all in for the last of his chips on a flop of {8-Spades}{K-Spades}{7-Hearts}. Bianco held {A-Spades}{K-Clubs} for top pair, top kicker but found himself trailing his opponent who showed {K-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a flopped two pair.

The turn was the {5-Diamonds} but the river landed the {A-Clubs} to give Bianco a bigger two pair on the river to double up to 24,000!

Hachem Crippled

Joe Hachem
Joe Hachem
The story is looking grim for Joe Hachem in today's tournament. He got his pocket queens all in against a short stack's pocket eights, but an eight hit the flop to make a set for Hachem's opponent. Hachem was unable to make anything better than a pair of queens and as a result finds himself with just 4,500 remaining chips.

Chucky Hangs On

Terrence Chan took a shot at eliminating a short-stacked "Chucky" with Chan taking his {A-Spades}{9-Diamonds} up against Chucky's {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}.

However the board fell {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{9-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} to give Chucky a bigger full house at the river to double up to around 5,000.

A few minutes later Chucky got in all in preflop again with {8-Clubs}{7-Hearts} against the player in the big blind who held {J-Spades}{Q-Spades}. The board fell {5-Spades}{3-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} to give Chucky a straight and another double up!

Chucky now sits with 8,000 to prolong the agony for all at the table.

Nelson Lets One Go

Lee Nelson
Lee Nelson
Lee Nelson made a standard raise from the button, before the big blind popped it up another 2,000. Nelson thought for a few moments before making it an additional 4,000 to go. The big blind then put in the 5-bet by moving all in for another 15,575.

Nelson went into the tank and thought for a long time before letting his hand go and maintaining his stack at around 27,000.
