Drivsholm Exacts Revenge

It's been an interesting few hands for Jeppe Drivsholm. He first lost a chunk of his stack to an all-in short stack who overtook Drivsholm's top pair by making a runner-runner straight. A few hands later, the same two players were at it again. This time it was Drivsholm who overtook the short stack, rivering a higher pair against the short stack's flopped top pair and knocking him out in the process.

Drivsholm now has about 22,000 chips.

Things Going Wong

Derwin Wong has just taken a hit and not without some emotional damage also. Wong wasn't feeling great when he found his {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} up against a short-stacked Rob Parise holding {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}, however things looked a lot brighter when the flop fell {4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{10-Spades} giving him the two-outer for the lead.

As Parise had one foot out the door, Wong cringed as the {A-Spades} landed on the turn for another two-outer! With only one out Wong couldn't find quads as the {7-Clubs} fell to drop Wong back to 28,000. Parise doubles up to back over 20,000.

Three-Way All In is Golden for Drivsholm

Jeppe Drivsholm
Jeppe Drivsholm
It's rare to see three players all in on a single hand, but it's happened a few times during the course of this tournament, including a recent hand on Table 10. After an early position short stack open-raised all in for 10,800, APPT Macau fifth-place finisher Jeppe Drivsholm reraised all in for 24,900. Melvin Matibag peeked at his cards and asked the dealer for a count. Once he got it. Matibag himself reraised all in for a total of 59,000. That cleared everyone else out of the hand.

Early Position: {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}
Drivsholm: {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}
Matibag: {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}

Drivsholm was in great shape to almost triple up, with many of his opponents' outs already dead. He did just that after the board ran out {5-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {7-Spades} {7-Clubs}. The early position player was knocked out, and Matibag was knocked back to about 35,000 chips. Meanwhile Drivsholm now sits near the top of the leaderboard, with roughly 65,000 chips.

Tan Doubles Through Obst

Ivan Tan has just doubled through James Obst, with all the chips in the middle preflop. Obst held {A-?}{K-?} but Tan held {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} for the lead.

The flop came {Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{9-Clubs} to give Obst additional outs to the straight, but the {2-Hearts} and {5-Spades} missed his hand and Tan doubles to 40,000, leaving Obst with only around 12,000.

That Wasn't in the Book

Priscillia Meirelles
Priscillia Meirelles
We've seen lots of unorthodox hands throughout this tournament, so it should come as no surprise that another one has gone down on Table 10. Celina Lin got the action started with a raise to 2,400 that Priscilla Meirelles called before a player in late position reraised to 6,000. That raise folded the small blind (who later said he fold pocket jacks) and an agonized Lin (who accidentally exposed her hand as she was mucking it, revealing pocket queens). Action passed back to Meirelles, who tanked for roughly two minutes before calling the raise. Speculation was rampant amongst the gallery as to what Meirelles could possibly be holding in order to make that call, knowing that Lin had folded queens and that the small blind had folded jacks.

The flop came down {K-Spades} {10-Spades} {7-Spades}. Meirelles checked to her opponent, who nervously bet 8,000. Meirelles debated the action for over a minute before mucking her hand.

A Double-Up For Iraqi Nick

Nali "Iraqi Nick" Kaselias
Nali "Iraqi Nick" Kaselias
With three players already in the pot, the action was with Nali Kaselias in the big blind who decided to squeeze for all of his chips. It was 6,800 more to William Te Jr., who then decided to move all in from under the gun. The other two players folded and the cards were tabled.

Te Jr.: {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}
Kaselias: {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

"A ten will do!" exclaimed Kaselias but when the flop came {4-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{2-Hearts} he changed his wishes as he looked for another club to complete his flush. The turn delivered when the {K-Clubs} peeled off to leave Te Jr drawing dead. The river was a meaningless {2-Diamonds} and Kaselias more than doubles up to 16,000 with Te Jr falling to 36,000.

Final Level of the Day

We've just commenced Level 9 which will be the final level of play for the day. We'll play 30 minutes of this level today, as this was the same amount that was played during Day 1a yesterday. All surviving players will then return tomorrow to be in the same room for the first time, where they will complete the rest of the level.

Nelson Runs Into Jun's Aggression

Korean Noh Tae Jun is making a late charge up the leaderboard with some aggressive all in plays.

On a recent flop of {J-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{9-Clubs} he check-raised all in over the top of Lee Nelson's bet of 5,200.

"You like that move huh?" chirped Nelson as he went into the tank with a big decision late in the day. He eventually gave it up and Jun now sits with over 40,000 chips.
