Levick Doubles

After having his aces cracked, Chris Levick needed to bounce back. He did so in a big way, flopping a set of fours and turning quads. On the river, with the board reading {6-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {4-Spades} {7-?}, Levick's opponent bet 3,000, then called Levick's all-in raise to 14,000. As a result, Levick is now sitting behind 31,000 chips.

Here Comes xMONSTERxDONGx

Jonathan "xMONSTERxDONGx" Karamalikis
Jonathan "xMONSTERxDONGx" Karamalikis
Jonathan Karamalikis had his chips in the middle with {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} in a preflop race with an opponent who revealed {A-Spades}{K-Spades}.

The flop wasn't pretty for Karamalikis as it arrived {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{A-Clubs} to give his opponent trips, however a miraculous {8-Spades} on the turn gave Karamalikis a full house and the lead.

The river bricked the {2-Spades} and the man they (now controversially) call xMONSTERxDONGx is looking good with nearly 70,000 in chips.

The Champ Goes Down

A tough day for Grant Levy
A tough day for Grant Levy
There will be no repeat for 2007 APPT Grand Final champion Grant Levy. He was never able to get much going today and found himself all in for his last 4,700 with {7-Hearts} {7-Spades}. He was called by an opponent with {K-Spades} {J-Clubs}, who won the hand when the board ran out {K-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {3-Spades}. Levy, with no further chips in his stack, left to scattered applause.

Griffin Continues to Accumulate

We caught the action on a flop of {10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{4-Spades} with Gavin Griffin calling the 600 chip bet from his opponent.

They saw a {3-Clubs} hit the turn and again Griffin called his opponent's bet, this time for 1,600. The river fell the {A-Clubs} and the player in early position fired a third barrel, worth 2,500. Griffin thought for a moment before popping it up to 7,000 sending his opponent into the tank.

He eventually gave it up and Griffin collected another tidy pot to extend his stack to over 80,000 chips.

"El Doble!" for Assadourian

Times have been tough for Eric Assadourian here at the APPT Grand Final. He found himself all in with {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} on a flop of {4-Spades} {7-Spades} {10-Diamonds}. His opponent, however, had a far worse hand than pocket nines, tabling an underpair to the board, {3-Hearts} {3-Clubs}. The turn {10-Hearts} and river {Q-Hearts} made a winner out of Assadourian.

PokerNews presenter Annette Melton interviewed Eric and his father Assadour at the last break, where they touched on how poker has influenced their lives.

Sukkar Sends Aoukar Straight Home

The action flop was {J-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} with Pierre Aoukar and Ray Sukkar both committing their chips into the middle.

Aoukar was the player with his tournament on the line as he tabled {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts} for top pair, top kicker; however Sukkar revealed a monster draw with his {8-Clubs}{9-Clubs}.

The turn bricked the {4-Spades}, however the river was the {7-Spades} giving Sukkar a straight and sending Aoukar to the rail.

Aristidou Out

Christopher Lee has ended the day of Peter Aristidou after Lee raised preflop from the button and Aristidou called for the last of his chips in the big blind.

Lee held {Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs} to be in a dominant position against Aristidou's {9-Hearts}{4-Spades}.

The board bricked out and Aristidou is eliminated just prior to the dinner break.

Lisandro Out

Jeff Lisandro eliminated
Jeff Lisandro eliminated
Jeff Lisandro was down to 6,000, and with dinner approaching, getting his chips in with {A-?}{K-?} was a no-brainer. It was bad timing for Lisandro as he ran into Blake Field's pocket aces. The board ran out {Q-?} {6-?} {10-?} {10-?} {8-?} to send Lisandro to dinner slightly ahead of the rest of the tournament.
