Pickering Dented by Fraser

Jamie Pickering is said to do his best work after midnight. It seems to be the case as his day continues to plummet.

In a recent hand Pickering moved all in over the top of the opening limp from Michael Fraser, but Fraser snap-called with {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} as Pickering would need some help with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts}{4-Spades} and Fraser doubled up to 188,000, with Pickering falling to the short stack with only 63,000.

Fazzolari Close to Seven Figures

Antonio Fazzolari is flirting with the million-chip mark. He recently took another 100,000 off of Eric Assadourian by passively calling Assadourian's bets on every street. Assadourian made it 26,000 to go preflop and Fazzolari called from the blinds. Both players checked the {5-Spades} {K-Clubs} {A-Clubs} flop. Assadourian bet 20,000 on the {3-Diamonds} turn and 60,000 on the {3-Hearts} river. Fazzolari called both times. Assadourian showed him {K-Spades} {7-Spades} for a pair of kings, but it was no good. Fazzolari tabled {A-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} for a pair of aces.

Jamie Pickering Eliminated in 22nd Place (AU$15,400)

The technicolor dream is over. Jamie Pickering was never able to recover from his earlier big loss. He open-shoved from the button for 158,000 with {K-Clubs} {10-Hearts} and was called by his nemesis, Jason Gray, from the big blind. Gray showed {A-Clubs} {5-Clubs}. Both players hit the flop {9-Clubs} {A-Spades} {K-Hearts}, with Gray hitting top pair. That left Pickering looking for another king or a ten. The {9-Spades} on the turn took away his outs to a ten. Needing a king and only a king to stay alive, Pickering was eliminated by the {3-Clubs} river. He is out in 22nd place, earning AU$15,400 in the process.

Gray is up to 735,000 in chips.

Eric Assadourian Eliminated in 20th Place (AU$15,400)

One of Australia's favorite sons, Eric Assadourian has just been eliminated from the APPT Sydney Grand Final. All the chips were in preflop in a hand against Brendan Edmonds.

Assadourian: {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}
Edmonds: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

The board fell {6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and the fans around the feature table are disappointed to see Assadourian exit in 20th place. He collects AU$15,400 for a fine tournament. Edmonds is now up to 570,000.

Marlon Goonawardana Eliminated in 19th Place (AU$15,400)

Daniel Kowalski raised under the gun for 32,000 and found calls from Frank Saffioti and Hai Bo Chu, before Marlon Goonawardana shoved all in for 235,000. Kowalski folded but Saffioti made the call as Chu stepped aside.

Saffioti: {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Goonawardana: {9-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {6-Clubs}{4-Spades}{Q-Spades}{4-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Saffioti improved to a pair of queens which was too strong for Goonawardana who is eliminated in 19th place for AU$15,400.

Michael Fraser Eliminated in 18th Place (AU$15,400)

Michael Fraser probably hoped he was in a flip situation after he raised and Michael Guzzardi raised all in behind him in the big blind. Fraser called with {K-Diamonds} {J-Spades} and was shown the worst hand he could have seen -- {A-Spades} {A-Clubs}. Fraser missed the flop {2-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {5-Clubs} and was drawing dead by the {7-Diamonds} turn. He hit a meaningless pair of jacks with the {J-Hearts} fell on the river and was bounced out of the tournament in 18th place, collecting AU$15,400 along the way.

Rafferty Chips Up

Martin Rowe raised to 30,000 on the button before Tom Rafferty popped it up to 84,000 from the big blind. Rowe made the call.

The flop was {9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and Rafferty fired out a healthy 110,000 into the middle. It was enough to force a fold from his opponent, as Rafferty jumps up to 690,000.

Saffioti Snapped Off

Hai Bo Chu hit just enough of the river in a hand against Frank Saffioti to snap-call Saffioti's all-in river bet. Chu was the preflop aggressor, raising to 32,000. Saffioti called from the big blind. Both players checked after the flop came down {K-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {K-Spades}. Saffioti checked again when the turn was a third king, the {K-Diamonds}. He called a bet of 35,000 from Chu.

On the river {7-Diamonds}, Saffioti shoved all in. Chu snap-called with {A-Diamonds} {7-Clubs}, having made a full house. Saffioti showed a total airball, {10-Hearts} {8-Spades}, to drop down to 200,000 in chips.
