Moussa Avoids Monster

George Moussa collected a monstrous pot in a clash on a flop of {7-Spades}{9-Clubs}{Q-Spades}. Moussa held {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} for the lead but his opponent tabled {10-Spades}{9-Spades} for a huge pair, flush and straight draw combo.

The turn and river bricked {2-Diamonds}, {j-Hearts} and Moussa doubled through to over 52,000 chips.

Bryan Huang Done

Bryan Huang has been eliminated by Wendy Cook. The key hand that crippled Huang was also against Cook.

Preflop, Cook limped in and another played pumped it up to 1,400. Huang and another player made the call and then a third opponent moved all in for 3,700. Cook made the call, as did Huang and one other player.

The herd checked off a {8-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{10-Hearts} flop and Cook fired 3,000 chips at the turn {5-Hearts}. Both Huang and the other player called the turn and they proceeded to the river {Q-Hearts}.

Cook checked the river to Huang who bet 15,000. The other opponent folded and left it to Cook, who made the call tabling {k-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. Huang must have been on the bluff because he mucked his hand. The all in player also mucked and headed for the rail.

A short time later Huang moved all in with {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Cook called with {A-Spades}{j-Spades} with the board running out {3-Spades}{a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} to finish off the job.

Cook Runs Into Rockets

Straight after the break, Wendy Cook decided to put her newly-found chips to work. Unfortunately the result didn't quite go to plan.

Nil Echeverria opened with a raise and Cook called from the small blind. They took a flop of {K-Clubs}{7-Spades}{9-Spades} and Cook came out swinging with a bet of 3,000. Echeverria made the call.

The turn was the {Q-Hearts} and again Cook fired, this time for 6,000. Echeverria called again and the {9-Hearts} hit the river.

Cook released again for 12,000 and Echeverria cringed but made the call.

Cook proudly flipped {K-Hearts}{2-Hearts} but Echeverria showed {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts} for the rockets to take it down. He's up to 65,000 with Cook slipping back to 45,000.

Bruno Portaro Eliminated

Gone
Gone
Bruno Portaro has been eliminated after a move with his short stack backfired.

Preflop, Portaro opened to 1,500 and got calls from the cutoff and button.

The flop came {9-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{10-Spades} and Portaro shipped his stack in, only for the cutoff to quickly call and table {A-Clubs}{a-Spades}.

Portaro rolled over his {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts} with a sigh of "wrong spot".

The board completed {k-Clubs} turn and {a-Diamonds} river to send him to the rail.

Raj Ramakrishnan Takes The Chip Lead

Raj Ramakrishnan has taken the chip lead after playing a massive pot with Ralf Westphal.

Westphal had been one of the flight leaders with Ramakrishnan just slightly in front of him in chips at the time.

The players took a flop of {3-Spades}{j-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} with all the money going in on the flop and Ramakrishnan holding the advantage with {j-?}{9-?} two pairs against Westphal's {Q-?}{q-?} overpair.

Westphal was not able to spike the {8-Spades} turn or {6-Hearts} river and so hits the rail. Ramakrishnan is up to approximately 100,000 in chips.

Peppermint Hippo Gets Things Going

The Peppermint Hippo is hungry for chips
The Peppermint Hippo is hungry for chips
Ali "The Peppermint Hippo" Khalil has just started to fire up for the day.

We passed him several times watching episodes of South Park on his iPod looking pretty bored, but he's just clicked into gear and eliminated a couple of opponents in the process.

Preflop, Khalil raised to 1,000 with an opponent in middle position making it 5,000 all in. The next player to act re-pushed for 12,000 and Khalil called both. The player with the smallest stack had {A-?}{q-?}, the other all-in player had {J-?}{j-?} and Khalil tabled {A-?}{k-?}.

A {k-?}{5-?}{3-?} flop was just what Khalil needed, and he was able to stay in front through the {4-?} turn and {6-?} river.

Khalil moves up to 39,000.
